I was wondering if one has to apply to the Prep School or if you can get an appointment by applying to the Academy and then receive an appointment if you do not become a cadet… Also, what are the chances of being selected to attend the Academy after one has successfully completed this school… And finally if anyone has been there would you guys mind saying what it was like or sharing some of your experiences… I am curious about it because I have not heard very much. Thank you i’m looking forward to reading your posts!

From what i understand, if you are a "normal" civilian applying to the ACADEMY, you do not apply to the PREP SCHOOL. If the academy really likes you but just cannot give you an appointment, they might stick you in the prep school.

From what my ALO told me, the prep school is for recruited athletes who are not ready for a military life (but the football team needs them to beat navy!) or people already in the air force (enlisted personel).

I know they say that people who graduate from prep school are not nessicarly appointed but im pretty sure the odds are stacked WELL in your favor.

ohh... has anyone been to the prep school or heard anything else about it? Or has anyone been snet a letter of appointment from them?

I know that son of a friend was offer the prep school 2 years ago. He was a non athlete and had above average grades but not the highest test scores. Not everyone that becomes a preppie is an athlete.

Many are kids who need a little prep in math or science, but would make good cadets. Sometimes it is a ALO who see something in person, they are given a chance to prepare for the difficulty of the core classes.

It not something you apply for it is something you are offered.

Also.. Does anyone know how many appointments are available for the Prep School... Is it less than the Academy or more then the Academy? And does anyone know how many people that graduate from Prep school get accepted into the Academy?
