Acceoted Students: What is your Academic Index?

OK So apparently there is this thing called an Academic Index and I was just curious what some accepted students' AI's were. To figure out your AI click Academic Index Calculator - Ivy League then fill out the info (takes 2 secs) and submit. I'm testing to see if this is an accurate system....

4 out of 9

S's AI Index: 236 (9 of 9) using WGPA (school does not rank). 223 (7 of 9) using deciles (have a pretty good idea of where he stands -- marginally top 10% at extremely competitive school). Rejected!

We did not find this a useful tool in our situation. Your mileage my vary. Naviance data from our HS was FAR more useful is giving us assessments of how kids from S's school did with particular colleges.

Haha, 2 out of 9 with a GT. Clearly, this is not an accurate tool.

224 using UW GPA - accepted

lol 7/9

236 (10 char)

8 out of 9

224, 7/9. an ok class rank and still got in...

i got 2/9 too and my index was 181, which i guess means "competitive"

i got 224 with GPA
206 with quartile
207 with decile

233 9/9 with GPA. Grade inflation! lol

224 with rank.

It only really matters for athletes. The average recruited athlete at an Ivy can be no lower than one standard deviation below the entire class as a whole. At Cornell and UPenn, I think that benchmark is around 190ish. At Harvard, I think it's more like 205. Columbia's AI includes Barnard girls, but even so, their sports teams are still generally awful.

Of course, any school can accept an athlete as long as he or she passes the minimum 171 threshold. So if you load up your squash team with 220s, and then recruit your star quarterback with a 171, it's not hard to meet the overall target. No wonder Harvard, Yale, and Princeton routinely win the Ivy football title.

In other exciting news, Cornell beat Dartmouth in lax, 16-11, and Harvard beat Princeton. So it seems like the only obstacle to yet another Ivy Title is Brown right now.

YEAH LAX!! Sorry Im a big Cornell lax fan. A bit of me died tho when they lost to Cuse last week esp by 7 goals. Oh well 9-2 isnt bad.

What happened to Princeton this year is Brown really ahead in the Ivy League? Princeton is usually atpo the Ivy in lax

Actually. I lied. It looked like Harvard was going to beat Princeton, but Princeton scored two goals at the end of the game to tie it, and then won the sudden death overtime.

Princeton's top player broke his ankle in practice this week, which is really unfortunate. But I think they will still be competitive for the Ivy title. So will Brown; the Brunos have an amazing goalie this year. I was at the Cornell - Brown game last year in Providence, and Cornell had a tougher time than most would have thought, so I'm really nervous about both the Brown and Princeton games this year. The Red has their work cut out for them.

AI says 230. I say different.

Accepted with a 232

223, 7/9

accepted

Your Academic Index: 211
AI Rank*: 5 out of 9
