I am a transfer student at The University of Texas in Austin. I received my acceptance letter this fall semester and plan on attending in the spring. In the time between sending in my application and receiving my letter of acceptance, I went downtown for my 21st birthday and got into some trouble. I do not recall all of the events that took place but I was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest (class C & A misdemeanors). The police report recalled that while i was talking to a girl on the street, her boyfriend charged me and i got up to throw a punch but missed him. Since i was a drunk and riled up, when the officer tried to detain me, I failed to cooperate (no punches were thrown at the cop and I didn't run away). I have hired a lawyer regarding the resisting charge and it appears that he will get the case dismissed based on weak evidence provided by the police report. My question is, will the University receive this information and if so, can/will it cause them to revoke my acceptance? The only other charge i have before this incident was Minor in Possession of Alcohol when i was 18.
