You could just call and ask. ;) I'm sure the admission men and women would be able to explain the webstie and when the decisions go online, although they might be a bit grumpy about it.

i'm expecting it in.. 2 hours
but following rj's logic, my last name starts with a W so i guess it won't come, lol
plus mail always comes slower to my house for some reason..
wow. this is seriously killing me. plus finals and im almost ready to eat someone's arm.

Well I might call them but I am sure that they are getting so many calls about that same topic that they might not be too happy about it. I just don't want to have to wait two weeks more which is about how long it takes mail to get here from TX or at least from Dallas.

I sent them an email saturday asking; still haven't heard back

Well Rice isn't exactly known for speedy e-mail responses. I am still waiting for a response to an e-mail I sent in early October.

same lol, they've never answered my emails.
just got the mail.. nothing =[

lol the admissions @rice.edu one doesn't seem to be very helpful... THe last time I called to ask a question they gave me this specific email, but i'm afraid to use it now since it was such a corny question.. i mean we DO have like 2 days left.
but ah, the suspense...

It took three days for my letter from UofH to reach me and i live in el Paso if that gives you and accurate measure of how long it takes for mail to travel accross the same state. =P Naturally, it might take less time if you are near a larger city saying as they'd fly the mail to that larger city and then send it to you. So, basically, a person up in Chicago could get a faster acceptance letter than a person in a small city in Texas. funny, eh?

my admission status webpage was just updated again...maybe they sent out the letter today...when was everyone else's last updated? It may even give clues as to who got in...

Mine was updated today as well but nothing is different.

Information as of: 12-DEC-05 05:05:49 PM

Yeah, I am about to go home to check my mail but I kinda doubt anything is gonna be there at this rate. =P

hm. so glad im not the only that didnt get the letter. my last name starts w/ Z, so it is alpha order..... >.<
good luck on finals everyone!

mine starts w/ S

"A" here, and nothing yet. But I am quite far away, in Cincinnati and all...

I think that mail should be moving faster since it is so close to Christmas though and the post office always gets more workers to deal with mail this time of year. I just got a letter from relatives in Dallas today and it was postmarked the 7th. On the other hand I never received that financial aid packet that everyone was talking about.

yeah, even though i'm W i live around 5 min from rice.. soo.. i dono whats up
is it true acceptance letters are priority and rejection/deferral are regular mail??!? if so that really freaks me out.

I am not sure if that is true for ED. I know it is true for Regular Decision. I got mine last year as a priority mail regular decision.

Well they most likely mail out all of the acceptances priority than regardless of the decision time. Of course first class mail usually moves pretty fast as well so I don't really see how it makes that much of a difference.

gotta know, gotta know, gotta know right now!
