Acceptance letters?

Do acceptance letter always come in larger envelopes, or are there some schools that send them out in the same form as the rejection letters? If they always do come in the same, large envelope form, it will definitely reduce some of the anxiety when it comes to actually opening the letters.

It depends on the school. The "big envelope" theory is usually correct. They don't put rejection letters in big enevelopes, but they sometimes put acceptance letters in small envelopes

Oh, so if I receive a small letter, I shouldn't automatically consider it a rejection, although most likely, it is?

A long time ago, when I got my letter it was so thin, I turned it sideways to show my friend and we both figured I got rejected. Inside was a handwritten note telling me I had been accepted and that a packet was on the way.

My Cornell acceptance was in a thin envelope. I would've been scared about it but I'd received the decision online a few days earlier.

fair statement.

If the envelope says "congratulations!" on the outside it is ususally an acceptance! :)

"Congratulations, we are offering you a chance to find a better fit for youself..."

My friend's Georgetown EA decision (acceptance) came in a small envelop.

vanderbilt came in a small envelope last year

anyone know about UVA?

how about this... OPEN THE ENVELOPE AND LOOK INSIDE.

staring at the outside and contemplating the size will not change a rejection into an acceptance, or potentially jeopardize your acceptance.

jeez.

UVa=big, I'm pretty sure.

My Georgetown acceptance came in an envelope the exact same size as the deferrals.

dys2k6....u probably havent gone thru the college "getting mail" experience...u are so nervous when u see that letter than when u see a small one a lotta people break down rite away =D its better to get a big one rite away =D. ive known people who broke down before even being able to compose themselves to open the damn letter (which sometimes turned out to be an acceptance)

it usually says "You are in!" on the package
that's what mind said

5 of the 6 acceptance letters I received came in small envelopes, only one sent the acceptance letter in a big envelope with the enrollment guide

Oh, good to know!

My Indiana University acceptance said "You're In!" on the envelope. Subtle, huh...
My deferral from Yale came in a smallish but thick envelope.

My letter from Case was in small envelope. It said "Admit One" on the front! Miami of Ohio was in a small envelope too. Ohio State was in a big envelope.

i knew about my acceptance because they emailed me before i even got the letter in the mail...way to ruin my fun! i hope my other schools allow me to be surprised.

All of my acceptances have been in large envelopes, and have been accepted to 5 universities.

UCONN's comes in a big envelope...sheer whiteness...no exciting phrase on the outside
