Acceptance rate ED vs RD

I was chosen by my high school to be a candidate for the Morehead-Cain Scholarship to UNC and part of the requirements for the scholarship application process is that I cannot apply Early Decision to any schools. This means I have to apply to Carnegie Mellon regular decision. What are the rates of acceptance for Early Decision vs Regular Decision? Specifically for the Dietrich College?

Basically is it worth it for me to continue on with the Morehead-Cain scholarship, which is extremely prestigeous and unlikely that I get, and not apply Early Decision? OR should I withdraw from the Morehead-Cain scholarship and apply Early Decision to Carnegie Mellon's Dietrich College?

I’d like to know too - my son is planning to apply ED to my alma mater to get a “legacy bonus”, but that school also says the “ED bonus” is not much if you aren’t a legacy.

What’s the situation at Carnegie-Mellon?

(PS - to the OP, would you go to UNC if you did win the scholarship? I got a full scholarship to our local state school, and turned it down because I really did not want to go there after touring the campus.)

I would like to know too

@nmj202 I think you should apply RD and whether or not you get in (I’m pretty sure if you were a recipient of a prestigious scholarship, you should be fine for HSS) keep the money because you never realize the financial pressure of college until you’ve been here for a bit.

@rhandco I think that CMU does value legacy whether or not it’s ED (if that’s what you’re asking)
