Acceptance rate for Women vs Men in early decision

Hello All,
I am trying to find out admit rates for highly selective schools for Men Vs Women specific to ED. I am not able to find it anywhere. I got information for Cornell in their web page, but that is about it. I am unable to find information for any other schools. They do list this information for overall admission stats, but not specific to ED.

Any pointers?
Thanks!

Since it’s not in the Common Data Set, it can’t be tabulated for colleges. If you’re trying to decide where to apply ED, don’t apply ED.

I am not aware of any schools breaking out male vs female acceptance data by admission round, although some probably do.

Here is Cornell’s CDS with total M/F acceptance rates, section C1 http://irp.dpb.cornell.edu/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/CDS_2018-2019_v5.pdf

I suspect that since the ED round includes recruited athletes you’ll find a skewed M/F ratio depending on which sports teams the college has the hardest time filling out.

Some schools publish a news release after the ED acceptances go out with some statistics. They probably don’t have acceptance rate by gender broken out, but they may have the number admitted by gender.

Just to put it out there, not trying to correlate anything or suggest anything, but when I applied ED to UChicago, ONLY girls (8 of them?) were accepted ED/EA.

I would say if that is a concern that a university that practices ED and will most likely have a great number of male athletes locking in during ED so the uni balances its gender ratio with RD that might be a reason to choose a different ED uni…otherwise if it’s your number one choice go for it or hold off for RD.

If a college or a major within a college historically has more applicants of one gender than the other, then the college is more likely to favor the other gender, especially in early round, to “lock” in, or at least increase the odds of enrollment of, the applicants of that gender.

Back to the question, most colleges don’t seem to break down ED that specifically, but perhaps that’s because ED is often skewed by athletes and legacies. There are a few generalities that might be worth considering.

Is it a small LAC? If so, they might be inclined to admit more guys in the ED round. Is it a somewhat selective college that really favors ED applicants? If your stats are near what they are looking for, that will help you. Is it a highly selective school? Be outstanding and present a carefully crafted app and top notch essays to improve your chances ED.

Very selective colleges often say that it’s not just applying early that gets a kid in. It’s that the kind of student they are looking for might be the kind of student who is high achieving and well organized and already has things in place to present a good app.

Thank you all for your help. Appreciate it!

Sorry, I’ve tried that before, it doesn’t work. Threads stay open as long as people post to it, or until a mod gets tired of babysitting it.

You don’t have the ability to do that.

The plural of anecdote is not data. I’ve deleted the OT followup questions regarding UChicago.
