Acceptance rates for music schools of non-conservatories?

I know that the acceptance rate must be vastly lower than for the rest of the college.

I was specifically thinking about Boston University, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, and Wisconsin.

Does anyone know? Or have an idea of where to find out?

From what I can gather, it depends entirely on the instrument/program. What is your instrument? It is a good question to ask the schools when you visit, because in a small program, every year can be different.
At Umich, I believe I’ve read that the music theatre program, for example, accepts 20 students from 600 applicants for a 3% admit. But it’s both very popular and very competitive.

The best source of info is the school itself. There are far too many variables to even assume what was true last year will be true this cycle.

Audition on clarinet, apply for music ed. Does the school usually publicly release this information? Can you ask them about it?

Yes, you can ask. Some may give you ranges, others last year’s detail. You may not get a breakdown by instrument or discipline.
