Acceptance/rejection letters to Diversity weekend

When do those usually go out? I’m paraniod that my submission might’ve gotten lost in the mail or something :(.

anaisV,
I can't answer your question, but I can say that my D hasn't heard anything yet either. Of course, she just sent hers in about a week ago as she was gone the first part of the summer. In reading the invitation letter, it sounded to us like they wouldn't be looking at the applications until after the August first "priority" date. Then, once they made decisions on the priority applicants, they would take people on a first come first served basis until all the slots were full. I could be way off, but this is how we interpreted the letter. I'd like to hear from anyone that did it last year too, NSM and chammom are you out there??

I just checked some old posts about diversity weekend, last year applicants for the 1st session heard in mid-August and 2nd session found out at the beginning of September.

Thanks I feel a little better. I signed up for the 2nd session so i guess i have to wait till Sept. :(.

My D applied for the the second session too, hopefully the two of you will be able to meet there! Be patient :)

Anyone who applied to session one heard back yet??

i haven't heard yet here in cali

D got her official letter of acceptance to the second weekend yesterday. If you attend the weekend and apply for financial aid, they will waive the application fee. The letter states that of those that attend one of the weekends, 75% utlimately apply to Amherst, and of those that apply, 75% are accepted. What a great opportunity!

Did she apply for session one? Do session two applicants get their letters much later?

She applied for session two, at the end of October.

congrats to your d! i was just wondering...where do you live? (I am trying to estimate how long it will take to get from amherst to SoCal)

Hey! I'm going to session 1...got the letter today in cali.

We're in Oregon.

Hope i hear from them soon....Congrats entomom and lucky_8910, btw! :)

Anais - please do not get discouraged. You should still apply for admission even if you do not get invited for weekend. Because of limited space the college is unable to accomodate many qualified applicants; also, it seems that therefore candidates from the West Coast and other far away states will be selected for the weekend over East Coast candidates.

I know of two students who were not selected for diversity weekend but were offered application fee waivers which they used to apply for admission and were in fact offered admission. So if you do not get invited for diversity weekend all is not lost.

My daughter got her acceptance letter for the first weekend yesterday. We are in the Midwest.

I got my acceptance letter for the first weekend a couple days ago.

D never even knew about the weekend. She never visited, and applied last minute of last day. They never heard of her until they received her application. She is going to be a sophomore there. She was, however, invited to Accepted Students' Diversity Weekend with Amherst footing the cost. That weekend clinched her decision, and she never looked back. Going or not, didn't matter with her.

I was wondering if any of you received a confirmation letter/email after your application was received?

Because I didn't. Does that mean they never received my application?
