Hi, I was accepted to vassar class of 2022 and looking at my second semester grades I’m starting to worry about my application being rescinded. I got some b’s sophomore year but straight a’s all of junior year and first semester of senior year. My grades have dipped this semester and I have 2 b’s in science classes and my grade in ap calc is currently a b but could drop to a c. Is there are risk of my acceptance being rescinded if I get a c in calc? Does anybody know anything about vassar’s history of rescinding acceptances? Thanks for any input!
hey minivangirl, you must be really worried. I am currently a rising sophomore at Vassar so I can give you my opinion that may or may not be correct. Reading your situation, I don’t see much problem with getting Bs in your grade. However, your calc is a tiny bit worrisome. I do advise you to do all you can to hold on to that B in the class. In short, I do not think you’ll get rescinded but just keep trying and working your best to maintain the grades you have currently. Please ask me if you have any further questions. And congratulations on your acceptance!
Everything @yejin3508 said (including the congrats), with this addition: One of my kids contracted a significant bout of high school “senioritis” (I don’t remember exact grades, but not great) after getting into Vassar. Received a mid-summer letter from one of the deans asking for a written detailed explanation of what happened and what would be done to make sure that it wouldn’t continue into Vassar. While a little shook up, my kid complied and 4 years later received one of the senior awards - pretty sure from the same dean. Hang in there!
Are people seriously worried about being rescinded for a couple of Bs and a C senior year? Has this ever actually happened?
There was a story about someone getting rescinded from Columbia this year for (so he said) two B’s. However this has not been verified independently anywhere, so take it with whatever grains of salt you can find.
