Acceptance Thread

Cellardoor, what is your intended major? Both universities are awesome, so unless you are intending to major in Business (in which case I would probably recommend Michigan), I think you should visit the campuses and decide based on fit.

I'm intending to major in art history but also interested in english and business and film. I like UNC's location but I like Umich's academics. I've also heard that OOS students fit in better at mich and there more on par academically with the IS students. I've also heard there is reverse-discrimination at Michigan and UNC IS students tend to shun the OOS'ers.

I'm just nervous I've worked really hard to transfer and these are two great schools that I think I could be happy at. I just want to make the right choice

cellardoor..I was in the same position as you. I couldn't decide between Umich and chapel hill (i'm oos for both schools). Then, Cornell accepted me. It was a no-brainer. I'm going to cornell. That solved my problem.

all those hills. good luck to you ;-)

A no brainer? I attended Michigan for my undergraduate studies and Cornell for my graduate studies. I would personally pick Michigan over Cornell. Those two schools are identical in most respects. The main difference is Ann Arbor vs Ithaca. In my case, Ann Arbor wins.

Alexandre. Can you give me some guidance here.
I have been accepted in USC Marshall, Mich LSA (with Pre-admit to Ross undetermined yet since I just got the acceptance notice to LSA yesterday), Cornell AEM (WL).
I am from S,F. interested in marketing and biotech. business.
Which should I choose under the folowing scenarios:
1. Got into Marshall, Ross pre-admit and Cornell AEM
2. Got into Marshall and Mich. LSA and Cornell with no AEM
Also, can LSA students take business courses at Ross?
I am totally stumped, please help.

Wait a second Cellardoor when you say there is "reverse-discrimination" at Michigan do you mean they tend to take more OOS students, at UNC takes more IS students?

If you get pre-admit status, I would say go for Michigan/Ross. The program is amazing and you would be treated like gold from day one.

If you only get into LSA at Michigan, the decision becomes a little harder. I would probably recommend Cornell if you want to play it safe or Michigan if you are willing to take a chance.

I would not recommend USC because I much prefer the Michigan and Cornell academic atmosphere and brand to USC's, but that's a personal preference. If USC does it for you, go for it as it is also an excellent university.

It's like 12% Asian, 6x% White, and some other ones scattered around. Minorities ethnicity is not the majority at U-M
