Please share if you applied/are applying, and eventually whether or not you get accepted!

You can also share your stats & scores if you’d like

I just applied today so I am interested in hearing about everyone!

My daughter applied a few weeks ago - pre Business. 3.75 W, 7 AP’s, 28 ACT. Out of state.

My daughter is working on her application now. Out of state. 4.5 W 31 ACT. She is still working on the essay. She loves that school. It’s expensive out of state though.

My daughter applied today. OOS, 4.09 WGPA, 3.76 UWGPA, 33 ACT, solid extracurriculars (XC, Girl Scouts, volunteering, state HOSA competition winner, and school poetry club).

Does anyone know when the school will begin to release decisions? From perusing last year’s acceptance thread - it seems like notices came to the Be a Spartan portal starting October 14th.

I also have a daughter who applied with 4.5W/34. She checked the portal this morning and all her documents have been received as of yesterday. I was expecting 8 weeks from this point, but mid-October would be awesome.

I applied last weekend for Mechanical Engineering with a 27 ACT, 3.89 UW GPA and 3 AP’s & an honors. I’m retaking my SAT but last time I got a 1250 which i sent into MSU. I’m in-state and have a lot of extracurriculars also

Applied today!

And, why are we linking to a 6-yr old thread again, @gkelsch?

@rtidwell Because many people asked about when they will hear back from MSU admissions and that thread has people commenting when they applied and when they received a response. I figured it would be helpful. Also, if you read the url, you would understand what the link was about.

I applied at the very beginning of September and am anxiously awaiting my decision letter.
I have a 34 ACT and a 4.0 UW GPA
I am in-state and I applied to James Madison Residential College.
Good luck everyone! Hopefully we start hearing back within the next few weeks

Daughter accepted this morning! She’s very excited as it is her first acceptance. We are from NJ. Does anyone recommend we do a visit soon or wait until accepted students? She’s dying to do the visit and we have time in early November and would rather not wait until Spring.

@monjmom if it is in the running for your D then I would visit sooner rather than later. I would think she would want to get a feel for the campus size (it’s huge) and what dorm she would like. We visited last October and are going back in 3 weeks for an official tour. I can tell you walking the campus is quite an exercise.

I knew it was a large campus but didn’t realize just how large it was until we walked around. Despite it’s size, it did have a good feel to it, especially the area North of the river. Which by the way, my D thought was a cool feature of the campus. Since we were only passing through we only really checked out the campus and didn’t really explore East Lansing at all.

Congrat’s to your Daughter.

My son was also accepted today. My husband and I are both Spartans so it is a proud day! He probably won’t attend as we don’t live in Michigan anymore but glad he applied!

Accepted today! I love the James Madison Residential college so I’m really excited to have this option. Hard decisions to come.

@Biotechgirl & @frazzledsenior17 do you mind me asking how you found out and when did you complete your application. I’m assuming you were notified via the Portal? My D completed her app and had all her items in around Sept. 9 so just curious about how long before we may hear.

My friend was accepted this morning… something tells me they did a large number of decisions today

@dcolosi I just logged into the portal and it was there. I had all documents submitted by the first of September.

My daughter just received an email indicating her portal was updated, too. Assuming an acceptance, but will let her check it out.

Congrats and good luck!

My daughter received an email today indicating there had been a change to her status in the Be a Spartan portal. She has been accepted. Applied 9/22 with UW GPA 3.76, W GPA 4.08, ACT 33. Received acceptance 10/3.

She’s very excited and now waiting to hear if she is accepted to the Honors College and receives a scholarship as this will be necessary for her to attend as we are OOS. I’m thrilled for her since I am a proud Spartan!
