Acceptance To Ucla

Does anyone know my chances of transfering to UCLA with this...

Current GPA: 3.4 with TAP (honors program)
Major: Political Science
50 hours of community service
Excellent Essay

Ive heard you need at least a 3.6 cumulative GPA to even be acknowledge, but is it possible that the honors program will subsitute for my low GPA. Let me know, thanks.

what college are you in now?

a community college

are you in state? that makes all the difference.

yup, im in california.

You need to check with the guidance couselor at your CC. He can give you a much better idea of where students have successfully transferred.

Need a higher GPA.

even with a TAP agreement? and that 58% of all poli sci apllicants got accepted in 2007 and that the average GPA of acceptance was 3.5? I hope your wrong, but we'll see.

just apply, whats the worst that can happen?...you don't get in, but u have a decent shot though your chances would increase greatly if u raise ur gpa, did u just finish ure first year in college?

suggest you look at this thread on the UC transfers forum

UCLA: in-state CCC with TAP: Safety

first year of college has been completed. thanks everyone for your input. Hopefully this next year I can raise my GPA to a 3.6. How will UCLA know im completing TAP if it wont be completed until next spring and I apply in the fall?

You'll have to verify all that with your school.

A 3.4 gpa for a political science major is not very competitive. You need more extracurriculars; 50 hours of community service is not enough.
