Acceptance?

Would a student with a 3.1-3.1 gpa and a 26-27 easily be accepted into U of M? Is it getting competetive, or would i be safe with these stats? Does coming from instate help much?

assuming that GPA is unweighted I would still say no. I got a 26 and a 3.4 unweighted at a VERY competitive high school. I'm not just saying that. I got deferred initially I will let you know if I got in when I hear back for my final decision. I'm supposed to hear back within the next week. With your stats I would apply to Indiana, another great school and you would have a better chance getting in.

Indiana really isnt an option for me. Being from minnesota im kind of limiting myself to schools in MN or schools that have reciprocity with MN. (SD,WI) I cant afford out of state tuiton. Im sure I would have a better chance at U of M-Duluth but of course ill be applying to them both and many more

You have a chance. Apply the week the applications become available this fall.

I got deferred initially from Carlson to then get waitlisted immediately after at CLA and I just found out that I got into CLA today.

if you will have trouble affording tuition at public schools, you are probably in a good position to get really nice financial aid packages at private schools. they may appear more expensive initially, but they generally have way better financial aid.

boomer--you should look at the Morris campus of the U of M. it's a great school with lots of personal attention and research opportunities, plus the cost is really affordable. people have a perception that it's in the "middle of nowhere," but you need to go out and visit. i fell in love with the place once i got out there.

The cost isn't really that big of a factor for me. I think Morris is too small for me.

it really depends on which college you're applying to. I say you have a pretty good shot if you apply right away and have some good ec's. the out of state tuition decrease is gonna hurt ur chances a little bit, but i still think you have a good chance.
