Thanks, a huge relief for me (he's not worried at all, thankfully). Yes, he had pulled himself out of consideration for the other scholarship. It seems he won't decide until all the results are in, which is fine. But if he had only this one, it would be more than ok. I think he'll have choices though.

D got early write from Williams today--totally blew her away. We have friends up there, and it's a sentimental favorite, but I don't know which way she's leaning (this hour)..... She had convinced herself that she wasn't even going to get accepted there, and for the early admission to come was a big surprise, and quite an honor. (just a couple more schools and a couple big scholarships to hear about---then the real craziness of her trying to make a decision comes).....

Wow, astrophysicsmom--that's exciting! Congratulations!! We don't expect to hear anything more for a couple of weeks at least.

D got her second acceptance - to University of Rochester. And so the mailbox watching begins in earnest!

Congratulations everyone!

Out of the blue, received word from University of Michigan that daughter has received $88,000 - yes! $88,000 in merit scholarships. Needless to say she will be a wolverine next year. What makes this all the more outstanding is that we are from in-state and were always told that most of UM's money goes to out-of-staters. We are more than thrilled and most thankful.

check mamac's post at the bottom of p. 17

Holy cow, mamac! Congratulations!! I am sure you are very happily surprised. So few in-staters get decent money for U of M ... we know lots of 33-35 ACT kids who didn't get offered much, if anything ... I am sure you have heard the same. It makes your D's accomplishments all that much sweeter.

Congratulations to your daughter, mamac! That is fantastic.

D just got her acceptance to the Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse U. today. This really throws a monkey wrench into things, because Newhouse was her #1 until her PSU acceptance came in. She never thought she'd be accepted to Newhouse, with her so-so SAT scores (her GPA and class rank no-doubt got her in). Now it's up to the $$$ before her final decision is made, and we haven't seen one financial aid package yet! Needless to say, DH and I are not thrilled with Syracuse; we're both pulling for PSU at this point.

mamac - congratulations! You must all be so thrilled!

SpringfieldMom - tough decision. What a wonderful problem to have. My D liked PSU too, but just thought it had too many cows nearby. (?). Anyway, one of my S's best friends goes to PSU, and has loved every minute of it. But Newhouse is such a great school. Congratulations!

I don't have a hs senior this year so I haven't been checking these pages so frequently this year. But my sincere congrats to everyone! It's so nice to read this thread and re-live the feelings of relief and happiness as you all go through it. For us, it was the pain of labor, followed by the euphoria of acceptances, followed by the "terrible two's" as they each had to decide which school to go to.

The application process is so darn painful on so many levels, and so different from child to child (at least it was for our kids). With my S, it was hell. Only thing we ever argued about. He finally made his mind up about which school to go to at the very last possible second and we had to fed ex his deposit !

But I'll tell you that after all the anxiety from the applications, then the gnawing back and forth of the decisions on where to go, all that became a memory superceded by the feelings when you wave goodbye through a car window on the day you drop them off at their new school.

Congratulations on your acceptances, which are awesome. And best of the luck with the FA and the remaining schools. We're all out here rooting for you!

DS accepted by Bowdoin yesterday. Very, very relieved, since he'd been wait-listed by Penn State (got app in too late). Resolving to Fret No More

NICE!! Congratulations to you and your son!

Daughter in at PLU with Merit $$. I was wondering why it was taking so long to hear from them! Second school to offer $$. This is fun. And a big confidence booster for her. She is very happy. My boys didn't get these kinds of offers.

mstee, congrats to your daughter, but what's PLU?

I was curious too so I googled--I think it's Pacific Lutheran.

Pacific Lutheran In Tacoma, WA.

Great news, mstee, congratulations to her! I'm seeing the smiles on my S's face as he reads the merit $ mails and it does wonders for the confidence.

Just now found out D was accepted at Dickinson!!!! Haven't heard anything about the finaid (if any) but some kind soul posted a link a short time ago and it's official! I am doing the happy dance!!
