WOW! That's rediculous... CONGRATS 10x to you and your S or D. He or she has a very special gift!

A very impressed student ;D
Ry

P.S. Tell your S or D I'll see them at Mich next year ;D haha... just playing around, that is an awesome selection to choose from, can't go wrong!

We are kicking butt now - congrats everybody !!

(BTW , and to oldolddad - nicely prepared list. Tell the boy well done on his prep.)

Curmudgeon:Thanks. Will do. He's worked hard. BTW I have enjoyed your wise thoughts on many threads

Yes, huge congratulations oldolddad!

Since Grinnell on Feb 26, the deafening silence here. And another foot of snow overnight. I'm thinking Spring and large envelopes!

bethievt: Aren't you also thinking Spring and lots of floods!

We're on high ground. I'm thinking floods of large envelopes!

bethievt: My sense is you will see some of those big envelopes. Only a few more weeks to go. Shoveling the snow may help the time pass quicker and ease the anxiety!

It's been a nice week of news from Tulane for my S. First, his merit scholarship was increased to $22k. Then a letter today informing him he has been selected for the Honor's Program. I think this will make the probable upcoming rejections from his reach schools a lot easier to take! Tulane has vaulted up to the lead this week, for sure.

oldolddad, add me to the list of those mightily impressed by your child. Of course, congratulations to you, as well ... while great kids can certainly rise above their circumstances, they most often are great BECAUSE OF their circumstances. Pat yourself on the back!

oldolddad, cheers to you and your DS. Moonmaid, congrats - I was in NOLA recently and went by Tulane - it looks really nice.

Having previously had a "good sign" (invitation to apply for a fellowship program), it's now official: d is in at Muhlenberg. Waiting on the fellowship and other FA. Happy goings on at home!

Chedva, How wonderful! Congratulations to your D, you and your family!

Happy news, Chedva! Enjoy a fine evening together!

Chedva, Mazel tov on Muhlenberg! my son really liked a lot of things about Muhlenberg. He visited a girl who goes there for 3 days but ultimately decided he wanted a school just a bit bigger. But he was sure he could have been very, very happy there.

Thank you everyone. Muhlenberg is well in the running of places she might go. Of course, it all depends on the rest of the envelopes! But the end is in sight!

Congrats to the others who've recently posted, too.

Well, we've reached the end of the road. After 3 kids this is amazingly anticlimactic! D is now choosing between a match/safety (Wisconsin-legacy), match (Rochester) and reach (Chicago). She was rejected ED at Northwestern (legacy) and waitlisted at WUSTL (sibling legacy). We think she's going to choose Chicago (also sibling legacy), but she's going to the Accepted Students Overnight to be absolutely sure that its the environment (physical and academic) that she wants. I have learned so much from those who frequent these forums that I wanted to say thanks. It's a little hard to step back now, but we have learned so much about this process over the past 6 years. This is a kid who may not be the most accomplished students in terms of GPA (no straight A's here), but who loves to learn and to engage. We know she'll be fine wherever she goes.

Best of luck to all the families in decision making mode. 6 weeks to go and then everyone can put decisions behind and concentrate on the important things...what to bring!

Congrats Chedva and runnersmom - wow, rm, 3 kids and 6 years of this - you must feel like you just finished a marathon!

I noticed my son is actually relaxed, smiling and acting like a human again for the first time in months. I see that a huge amount of pressure is off his shoulders, which just makes me really happy. Now to keep him focused on the rest of his year, lol, so his end of year report doesn't make them retract the award!

MSMDAD, visiting Tulane really helped the school vault from a possibility to a big contender in my son's eyes. The facilities are first rate and the students, staff and profs were very impressive. Everyone is incredibly friendly and supportive, and there was geniune warmth and enthusiasm for the place, from the moment we were met at the Admissions building by student volunteers. He has a few more envelopes to open, but I think this one will end up being the best fit for him.

Congratulations to all!

Moonmaid, my S loved Butler, the honors dorm at Tulane. Nice mix of kids focused on doing well and having fun, rather than one to the exclusion of the other. Plus, he could roll out of bad and into the dining hall.

mootmom congrats on Northeastern! You'd have double the reasons to come to Boston.
