Very happy for you. CC is a great resource. Hope your D enjoys 4 great years in Providence - one of my favorite places.

Congrats! Harvard will take good care of you. Very flexible and helpful with aid. Just let finaid know if you'll have any problems with their offer. They have ways to accommodate.

MAJOR CONGRATS on HARVARD, newparent's kiddo!!!

Hehe, I took a chance and bought a Princeton t-shirt when I visited.
I also come from a very small school, with a class size of 55.
Thanks for the congratulations!! Please say "congrats" to your son from me!

Thanks Zuma! I have never seen the campus and was only in Providence once before for a very short time, so I'm looking forward to visiting. D wants to go up soon to get a sweatshirt/t-shirt/decal, etc.... I told her she could pick something out online but she wants to go to the campus. Perhaps we'll make it up in January or February.

congrats to everyone.. My son is in ED to Oberlin. He is very happy.

Wishing a hearty congratulations to all who received good news this week and best of luck with their future acceptances to those who received disappointing news.

My S received his first college ap news on Friday. My S, H, and I were delighted (and relieved) to receive news of S's EA acceptance to University of Illinois - Urbana/Champaign.

My daughter was named National Hispanic Recognition Scholar this year and the mailbox became flooded quickly. Being from middle class- middle america we were amazed and excited at the opportunities she suddenly had before her. About the time we were planning to head east to look at colleges we got some devistating news. My husband was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer. One of my first thoughts was, this is so not fair to her, senior year should be filled with hope and excitement. We started looking at colleges closer to home that offered good scholarships for NHRS. Our home town university has never offered anything for it.
I had started praying that if she was meant to go far away to college, we would still let her go, but if she was meant to stay closer to home then I needed a sign. It needed to be a big sign because I am not always so good at realizing signs for what they are. We went to the local college on a whim for scholars day. There they announced for the first time ever, they were going to offer a sizable NHR scholarship. We both looked at each other and knew we had our sign. So while it is not the ivy league visions that were dancing in our heads for a while. She will be having a wonderful almost full ride education at Oklahoma State where she can be closer to her father while we deal with his illness. In the end, we realized one of the things more important than the prestgious degree we had hoped for, is something much more treasured, our family.

Libs_mom - So sorry to hear about your husband's illness. I can't imagine how difficult this must be for all of you. I am so happy that your daughter has found a school where she can be happy and close to her dad. Wishing her great success and happiness.

Congratulations to everyone receiving good news! To those of you who are still waiting for decisions or who have not had good news yet, I wish you all the best. My D was accepted ED, so I can now relax and enjoy hearing everyone else's news.

SpringfieldMom - Congratulations to your daughter on her acceptance to Allegheny with the Trustee Scholarship! Just an FYI, last year my daughter also received this but chose to enroll elsewhere - Allegheny sent her a lovely letter that not only kept her acceptance open for two years, but also the scholarship. I love Allegheny!

Congratulations to everyone else - this is an amazing list of acceptances and stories, and we're not even at RD yet!

Thanks, fireflyscout. The letter arriving Friday was a great homecoming surprise for DD back from her retreat.

Now if we can just get over the boyfriend breakup on Saturday and the Christmas tree falling over last night (didn't hear a thing), we'll be great.

Libs_mom - Best wishes to your family for the new year, I hope your husband's treatment goes well and you have many more "good signs" awaiting you.

D accepted at UChicago today!

mstee! Congrats! That makes 2 right? Join us in the Alley for some celebratory libations...

D accepted at Chicago today as well.

runnersmom-- CONGRATS!

Yes, Alu, one of my S's is a third year at Chicago. So that makes two accepted there. It is one of my D's top three choices, she says.

Thanks. 2 for us too. S is a 4th year and will graduate in June. D is very happy tonight.

My son was also offered a place in Boston: At Northeastern University! :D
This was supposed to be a safety for him, yet the process was incredibly nervewracking!! Waiting for that slow slow website and seeing the stats of accepted students. But he is following the CC credo - he loves his safety and NEU is a school he likes a lot, and a very good chance he will attend.

my D got into both her top to EA places today!! makes want to cry...got her sweatshirts to both and hid them away- Fordham and Emerson, so NYC or Boston..congrats to you parents!!

S got into Stanford.
