What's going on with UMich admissions decisions for the class of 2015? I see on the Web site that they won't have them all out until mid-April. That seems really late.

You must be new here ;)

Yes - check out the tread just below with 2593 responses. 1677 of them are speculation of when the decisions will come out.

Momapplicant, in answer to your actual question, U Mich has changed to the common app this year. The predicted impact of this is that approximately 20% more students (eg. 36,000 instead of 30,000) have applied for the same number of spots, making it a much tougher admit. At the same time, Pres Coleman has gone on record that they will not OVER-admit this year like they did last year (by 600 or more students) SO they’re being much more cautious about getting their yield calculations right (eg. number of accepted who will actually attend.) Students who applied Early Action heard by Dec. 24th – some admitted. Many were deferred, which is NOT to say rejected. Regular decision (by Feb. 1) applicants have been admitted on a rolling basis, so the mid-April date means the LATEST one might hear a decision in EITHER case, as far as I can tell. Hope that helps. Cheers!

thanks so much! That answered my question. I guess we’ll just have to cross our fingers for the next five weeks.

April 15 is the latest. Acceptances will trickle in. I think most acceptances will be out by April 1. That’s not ideal, but given the 22% increase in applicants (up to 38,000+ from last year’s 31,500), I think it is fair.
