Last week we heard from UCAS that my S was accepted to Aberdeen for
their History of Art program. Yesterday he was given an
unconditional offer for the same major in St. Andrews and Edinburgh.
The nice thing about these programs is after four years you have
your MA. The bad thing is the exchange rate and no financial
assistance for US students. US federal aid and grants still apply
but that would be a drop in the bucket.
With over two months to go in finding out the results on this side
of the Atlantic it's nice to have these options.

Great news! Congratulations to you and your son.

After some reseach it seems that their MA is about equivalent to a BA over here.

congrats to you anicerdad and your son! :)

So your son was homeschooled? Did he over- excell in anything? If possible, can you read my thread and post any suggestions? THNX!

no way an american ba can't be equal to a european ma degree

Apparently you are correct ceki although there seems to be different opinions about this. As UK schools don't require subjects unrelated to your major you can take only those courses in that field. Some feel that is isn't equivalent as the well roundedness is not there but it can be a positive to a student who may want to be an Historian and doesn't want to worry about quantative courses.
