Foreign universities accepting of homeschoolers?

Do you guys know of any homeschoolers who were accepted to UK universities and how open they are to homeschoolers if at all?

They will be open to a homeschooler with high SAT's (1400+) and AP scores of at least 4. Oxford and Cambridge wiil strongly weigh their interviews which will be carried out by a tutor of the department you want to major in.
My son got offers from
University of St. Andrews, Edinburgh, and Aberdeen
rejected after the second interview by Oxford:)

Caution....They offer zero financial aid to US students.
I would recommend that you apply to some schools in the States that give scholarship money.
You can ask where to apply on the parents forum.

Thank you!

I have a 1510 SAT and 790, 720, 700 SAT IIs. I don't plan on taking any more or retaking any. :-/ I also have a lot of credits through three different colleges (4.0) so I'll have plenty of transcripts and a master transcript, but no diploma. I don't plan on taking any APs, though. :-/

Where did your son go for his Oxford interview? I have family in Oxford and I visited them recently and fell so in love with the city.

My parents set aside college funds for me and my siblings when we were younger so I am lucky in that the lack of aid will not be a huge issue for me. I will remember the parents forum suggestion, though.

And I know that I could research this on my own, but I emailed many colleges in the UK and received nothing but automatic robot responses that referred to their FAQs. I really appreciate all you homeschooling parents and your patience with me. :)

I think I want to apply to Oxford and St. Andrews.

The interview was in NYC followed by a phone call from the UK over a month later. You can do one UCAS application for all the schools you want to apply to.

Upon more research, the Oxford interview seems scary and intimidating as anything. I think I will apply to St. Andrews, though. Would

Yale, Brown, Wesleyan, Williams, Harvard, Princeton, Dartmouth, Duke, Stanford, Amherst, Hampshire, St. Andrews

seem like an unreasonable list of schools? My only real safety is Hampshire, but I can't think of any others I'd be willing to go to. :-/ Is it foolish to only include one "safety"?

I would definetly include some schools that give merit awards.
(UVA, Lafayette College,Grinnell, Emory).
Check the thread on the parents forum.

Finances really won't be an issue. :-/

Well fids.....I hope that you get into Princeton so you can treat us to dinner at Winberries:)

Oxford called my son without any kind of heads-up. After the interview he felt like he had his "clock cleaned".

Your list is fine. I can't stress enough how important your essay topic and theme will count. If you could couple your personal statement with an EC you are passionate about and may have enjoyed success with you will have an advantage. Also I would definely add another LAC or University that would be a match or safety.

<3 Thank you for your help.

Oh gosh, if I got into Princeton, I'd fly ALL the homeschooling parents on CC to New Jersey and take everyone out to dinner at Winberries, I'd be so happy.

What sort of place is Winberries, anyways?

I will definitely take your advice, thank you.

Winberries is a pub-restaurant in Palmer Sq that is frequented by alumni, students and faculty. You would typically find local families their
as well. Good food at reasonable prices.
