Acceptances off Waitlist?

With ED1/2 everyone would have deposits in by Mar 10, so they should have firm number of EDs matriculating. The RD’s have until May 1st so they probably won’t have a firm number on them until then, but depending on the RD yield which I suspect might be higher than anticipated, I don’t see the wait list being addressed until early May.

Called the admission office this week and they said they’ll contact some people next week.

I like it, someone actually called the people in the know. :slight_smile:

@Meganerd2012 Thanks for taking initiative and calling the office! Come to think of it, it makes more sense that they’d start contacting people next week. I’d expect the RD yield to be lower than usual because many people who had UChicago as their first choice applied ED, and those who were in the 2% to be accepted RD were most likely also accepted to places like HYP. Most people don’t wait until May 1st to commit, especially with UChicago because committing determines housing priority.

Even so, I expect there to be very few acceptances this year. I’d be grateful if they even had 30 spots left (not implying that I’d get one of those spots lol). Let’s not get our hopes up.

Has anyone gotten off yet? Some acceptances should hopefully come tomorrow on Friday.

I think someone got off in another thread here

Any spots left?

@Stonyfire

Probably. They still accept people off the waitlist in early May (and usually accept more since they know their numbers by then).

There is an article that suggests only 75 people currently declined offer

@Stonyfire can you please post that?

I think it’s a reference to/misreading of this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-chicago/1983566-u-chicago-2021-yield-news-coincides-with-wsj-s-chicago-resurgence-report.html#latest
