UMass web has said "Under review" for quite sometime now.
Any reason your son chose southern schools? Athlete? Or just likes the academic programs they offer?
Maryland is so huge, I know of 3 students that ended up transferring after 1 year. 2 from Seton Hall Class of 2007. They felt the class sizes were way too big and they weren't getting the individual attention they needed in certain classes.
collegeboard.com says that 82% of all students accepted were 3.75 and higher and that only 3% of students with a gpa of 3.25 to 3.49 were accepted so that great he got in there. Good for him.

He chose southern schools largely due to a desire to experience another geographic area and for the weather. The agreement was that he had to stay on the East coast. He realizes he was accepted at schools where the GPAs/ACTs/SATs are generally higher. By the way, knowing he would be applying in the south, he also took the ACT which he did much better on than the SAT. He had lots of extracurriculars, community service and leadership, etc. experience and worked really hard on his essays. We're assuming those things factored in, but who knows. Reading some of the posts on this site I am almost convinced that a chunk of the admissions process is a crap shoot. I am also concerned about MD's size. For now I am sitting back watching the acceptances come in. By month's end as a family we'll be making a decision based on whats best for ALL of us.

Well good luck and I'm sure in the end, it will all work out.
I know the $$$ at SHP was well spent regardless.
The boys got a great education and I know they'll be prepared for whatever comes their way in College!

Good luck to you and your son as well. The 4 yrs went by so fast, to the point of being a tad scary. I hope and pray their 4 yrs of undergrad and beyond will be just as productive as they were at the Prep.

My son received a thick envelope from U Mass that's waiting to be opened when he gets home from school today.

Sounds good for your son!
Is it his first choice? Do you mind if I ask was his SAT's and GPA were?

Thx

I also got into UMASS today. It seems that they are sending out decisions now

Thanks for your good wishes, jacimo. My son was accepted to the Commonwealth College Honors College with a sizable Commonwealth College Scholarship, which was a nice surprise. UMass isn't his first choice, but it's still very appealing because of its exceptional strength in two of the fields of greatest interest to him. I'll pm you the info. you asked about.

Did they update the website too? My son's app still says UNDER REVIEW on the web.

I got the folder today - Legal Studies, Commonwealth College! Woohoo!

About the Adams Scholarship - I found out from my high school earlier this year.

The website has not been updated. It still says "Under Review" for my son despite having received the acceptance.

I applied RD and received my acceptance envelope earlier this week.

I was surprised because I was expecting the decision later this month. But happy nonetheless since I've been accepted into the Commonwealth College and given a scholarship.

Good luck to those still waiting.

Still waiting...

still waiting...my status says "under review" but it's been under review for some time now!

My D is still waiting too........she actually applied EA but they lost her transcript.......hoping this week she'll hear!
