Happy to say, my daughter received her first M/T acceptance today from Point Park with a very nice scholarship attached (sigh of relief). YIPPEE! She was also accepted on the spot from Marymount Manhattan BFA dance program as well last weekend in NY. So we are off to a good start, but with many left to hear from.

I got in for acting with a lovely "apprenticeship"

One down, 8 more to hear from

My D. was accepted for acting with nice scholarship!

Congratulations! :D

Got my acceptance for MT yesterday!! :)

You are all on a roll! Congrats LovesMT!

D received her acceptance letter yesterday!

Thanks MTgrlsmom! I was very excited to get that letter.

Hahaha. I just received my rejection from musical theatre with a purple post-it note on it stating

"Please note that you were accepting into the acting department with a $4500 apprenticeship"

I laughed. I received my acting acceptance on Tuesday, and then I got this letter today and laughed. What if I had received the other one first? Then my acceptance would have been on a Post It.

HAHAHAHA

LizMT-a few years ago my daughter's friend auditioned for MT at P.P. She was rejected. The NEXT year, she received a letter of acceptance into the DANCE program! They put her address on a letter of acceptance for another student! The school sent a letter of apology to the girl, but it was pretty comical!

I was accepted to Point Park a few days ago for musical theater. I also recieved accademic and community servic scholarships along with a nice arts apprenticeship. Did anyone else get a letter that they were being considered for a $60,000 scholarship, that would replace their others? The letter says that I have to come to school for an interview, but since i live California I am weighing the cost. Is anyone else thinking about going to the school for this interview?

everla - that depends I would think whether or not Point Park is one of your "first choice schools". Point Park is generally very generous with their talent, academic and community service scholarships for those that qualify. In addition, there is also of course the consideration of possibly getting a close to free ride which could beneficial for obvious financial reasons. Only you can answer those questions. Congratulations on your acceptance :)!

everla, my s also recieved an acceptance letter with an opportunity for the presidential scholarship. You are eligible to do the interview over the phone if you are unable to attend. Just give the admissions office a call and explain the circumstances.

Are scholarships called "apprenticeships" at PPU? I have never heard that term used before in this context.

I believe their apprenticeships are closer to what some schools would refer to as "work-study" opportunities -- the difference being, they would be working in areas directly related to their major. They do have scholarships that are strictly that. (At least- that was the case a few years back.)

Last year parents and students were told at the information session before the audition, that students who scored an A on their audition would be offered scholarships and students who scored a bit lower(A- or B, sorry can't remember which, just that it was lower than the A needed for scholarships) would be offered apprenticeships, where the students have to work to earn the money that is alotted to them.

I do not remember the exact grading system, but that is how it was explained to us a couple of years ago when my daughter received her scholarship. Scholarships for top scoring and apprenticeships for those just under that level. Good luck!

I got accepted as am MT major and a Dance Minor, Very excited and a great scholarship to... Anyone else a dance minor?

-The JpH
