It may be a little early, though a lot of schools are rolling. Someone had conjurred up a great list of last years acceptances. We can keep this thread updated w/ MT acceptances, eh?

The year my D applied/auditioned, one of the forums she posted on had a thread where everyone posted a list of the schools they applied to and then when they received their decisions, they'd revisit the list and indicate what the decision had been. They found it interesting to see the decisions and how some of them were kind of unexpected. Just something to consider for this year's 'crop'. :)

my best friend was accepted to emerson early

Im in at musical theater UMICH!!! ( i feel like its the best program!)

My daughter has been accepted to SMU BFA Theater.

I've heard that's a great program. Congratulations.

My son received acceptances to Illinois Wesleyan and to Arizona State MT programs today. He much prefers IWU, but the difference in what we would need to pay is about $18,000 per year, so we'll see what happens.

Congratulations cato! Great news!

Caromom, I have heard that SMU has a great program, but know nothing about it. Funny, cuz I was just asked about it last week by someone whose son is auditioning for it. Can you share some info that I can pass along? Don't think that program has made this forum yet, and I know it's a well regarded one.

jamimom, smu is not an mt school. just acting and tech. they are talking about it on theatre/drama. thesbohemian just found out she got in.

Thanks, Jewelyard. Was wondering why it did not make our radar screen. It does sound like a wonderful acting program, complete with the BFA.

My daughter discovered SMU when she was in a summer program taught in part by a graduate who had gone on to Brown (I believe) for directing. She is attracted to the strong liberal arts focus in addition to the theater program. She struggled with her decision to apply for acting vs. MT and that whole process is a subject for another board. Basically she is an actor/singer/dancer in that order and wants a program where she can focus on her strengths (acting) but still sing and dance in some form. SMU has plenty of dance and voice classes that she can still take, not an option at some other schools. She auditioned at a regional and definitely clicked with the faculty there. She is now looking forward to a visit over spring break.

She also is very attracted to the idea of a traditional college experience in addition to theater training.

I got into Ithaca for MT! The letter came today. It was a regular sized envelope with only two sheets in it. One said I was accepted, and another said I got a merit scholarship.

Congrats Actor465! Good for you on the acceptance...and better yet....a scholarship! Time to celebrate!

Today I got into Point Park for acting although I auditioned for MT. Thats ok though since it wasnt my top choice and now I really do have a safety if I dont end up getting in anywhere. I also got a good talent scholarship which was surprising too.

Congrats to both Actor465 amd MTFan!! These are wonderful achievements. Very happy for you both.

Actor, would you mind sharing on which day you auditioned at Ithaca? Curious about the time frame for that school. Thanx.

Also, are you a boy or girl?

Enjoy the moment!!

I auditioned for Ithaca at the regional audition in Northern VA. I don't know if you want to hear how that went, but I'll share anyway, haha.

We got there, and there were two faculty members who talked to us about the program, took our pictures, etc. Then they sent us all out into the hallway, and we went in one by one. Very relaxed. I did my stuff and we talked a little bit. They asked me about favorite and most challenging roles, and where I see myself in ten years. You know, typical audition-ish questions. As I said, it was very relaxed and low key: a great way to start my stream of auditions.

Congrats to those who are receiving good news! Keep it coming. I have followed this forum for awhile, and to hear great audition/acceptance stories really makes me proud of all of you!

Actor, again, I am very proud of you and your outcome! I now realize you auditioned off site. I just can't keep all you talented kids straight! I need to keep notes by the computer ;-). My D auditioned at Ithaca about a week ago so that is why I asked. Yes, it was a well run audition. I have meant to post and share how the Syracuse and Ithaca auditions went but have yet to get around to it.

I really love hearing the great things happening for some of you and look forward to hearing where everyone ends up. It is a difficult process but everyone will end up somewhere.

Susan

Congratulations to both Actor465 amd MTFan! Great to hear the good news! Hope lots more will be coming in soon for everyone.
