Congratulations IMHopeful. The waiting is awful, but your outcome was good.

I am actually shocked -- and so was my D. Her audition was fine, but she got no feedback at all, or any sense what so ever that they were impressed with her. I guess that bears out what many have said before -- you shouldn't really read much from the audition! We had pretty much written Hartt off and weren't expecting this very pleasant surprise. I guess now we have got to do some quick research and schedule a visit because we don't know alot about the school!

A young man from my daughters school is a Freshman there. He really likes the program. They have a brand new facility that opened in September that is nice. My daughter auditioned there in December. The facility is not on the main campus but they have a bus that takes you back and forth. It's in a part of Hartford that is not great, but the main campus is in a nice part of West Hartford. All acting students go to England for training. I hope you enjoy your visit.

IMHhopeful---that's so interesting that you said that because my D said the same thing. They didn't ask for anything after she was done with her pieces. No conversation, no interview and there was no dance audition at Unifieds and dance is one of her strong points. She did, however, hand them a dance DVD of her work-maybe that helped! She had completely written off Hartt, particularly when one of her classmates who was accepted into Ithaca, Merrymount and Point Park was rejected last week. So...to everyone still waiting --You never know!

Do you know how many MTs and actors are expected to be in the freshman class?

IMHopeful - Congratulations to your D also! Sounds like this has been a good day for some people!

My D (hs junior) wanted to visit Hartt last summer when we were visiting my brother who lives near New Haven, CT. We did not get to see the new performance center as it was not opened yet, but my D really loved the campus which is in a nice part of West Hartford. We had a really good talk with the admissions person for the theatre and dance school during our visit and ever since my D has loved the school.

Thanks much -- So we have been reading everything we can find on their website and every post here about Hartt. I know we will have to get out there to visit so she can see it first hand. Six weeks ago we were wondering whether she would get accepted anywhere after she got three rejections in a row. . . and now she has choices -- but ones that we just don't know that much about!

pohsmom - that was smart to leave a dvd with the auditors. my daughter auditioned at the LA Unifieds and they didn't give the kids (not just my d but others we talked to) much of an audition. there was no dance at all and little time allowed for songs and monologues. Dance is one of my d's strengths as well. oh well - some things just are not meant to be. we had completely written Hartt off which in our case turned out to be realistic. congratulations to all who have been admitted - looks like a wonderful school. I

I just got a yes for MT!!!! Super excited!

I haven't heard yet!
But my best friend did and he recieved 16, 000$ ...
I'm confused with how their letting people know... cause his was by email!

We have a friend who was called personally to accept, asked how much money it would take to have them to come there, but no official letter yet. So...that should tell you that all acceptance letters have not arrived! :)

My D's acceptance was by mail -- skinny envelope with just the letter -- figured it was a rejection!

IMHopeful
Did you receive a financial aid package with you acceptance? We have been waiting since December to get one.

The acceptance letter did say that she had received a talent scholarship and gave the amount. However, all she got was a letter -- no other packet of information. Apparently that will be coming separately.

My S received an acceptance letter on Friday along with a financial package. No phone call.

Seasidegardener-
I did not get a financial aid package but when we called to ask they said that I would receive that once I turned in my FAFSA, because I was a walk-in.

I received an email that I was accepted to University of Hartford, but I didn’t get my letter yet. I auditioned for Musical Theatre on Dec 5. Does this mean I was accepted into the Hartt school?

Jordan,
My answer is based on my knowledge and observations with Hartford/Hartt, but please do not rely on this 100%. I believe the email you received is for admission into University of Hartford itself, and not Hartt. For one thing, your letter says you were accepted to U of Hartford, and isn’t a letter from Hartt, nor mentions Hartt. Further, I know that University of Hartford and Hartt admissions are bifurcated, meaning these are two SEPARATE processes. You can be admitted to Hartford, but not Hartt, for example. You get TWO notifications, in other words. U of Hartford itself is rolling admissions and so it makes sense that you heard you were admitted to the university itself (congrats!). To my knowledge, most, if not all, of those admitted to Hartt’s BFA in MT Program, get notification of those acceptances in late March. I believe my information is accurate but I prefer if you contact the college directly for the answer and not rely on a message board.

I got a letter in the mail yesterday about my admission to the Hartt School, saying I was admitted to the BFA Music Theatre program and that I was eligible for a scholarship. I then received an email with a video saying I was admittied to the University of Hartford. They are two different things, so take that into consideration.

We just heard from University of Hartford (video message)—very unique!!! and an
incredible letter of acceptance for our daugher to the BFA Music Theatre Program
at Hartt!!! What an incredible Christmas Present!!! I wish all the parents out there
the best of luck for their children. The pressure is so incredible for them all!
I wish for all the Blessings of Christmas and a Wonderful New Year!
