Accepted at CMC, but I really want to go to Davidson... Chances?

<p>Hello... I have currently narrowed down my college options to Centre (accepted with merit) and Davidson. However, Davidson doesnt release decisions until Saturday... What are my chances of being accepted?</p>

<p>GPA W 4.3 UW 3.68 (12/161 competitive school... I transferred after my sophomore year from a mediocre public school, so I had to adjust to a more rigorous curriculum. My grades suffered slightly during my junior year, but it was addressed by counselor in rec form) <em>My midyear report grades were W4.55 UW3.86</em>

PSAT 214 70r 75m 69w <em>I was named as a National Merit Finalist and told my Davidson ad. counselor that I planned to choose them as my first pick</em></p>

<p>Rigor: Taken every possible honors/AP class that I could with the exception of 12th AP English... Stemmed from my adjustment period junior year (taken 6 APs total)- school offers 10 ap, and 6 of those are in science/language alone</p>

<p>Essay: Very solid, personal about an encounter with a child during my trip to China to adopt my sister... Spoke about the importance of diversity in my life (emotional ending)
Davidson essay: Very solid, once again addressed the importance of diversity on a local/regional/national/international level, but tied in the honor code
Recs: Very solid, written by AP Cal teacher and Spanish 2 teacher... both were captivated by my intelligence during their class</p>

<p>ECs: Very solid and unique... Highlights include... Creator of the calculus team, Creator of a camp for down syndrome children that raises money from down syndrome research, creator and/or officer of several other clubs, tons of community service with common ground in working with those who have special needs, student government</p>

<p><em>National Merit Finalist, Duke TIP National Scholar, National Honors Society, American Mensa, Mu Alpha Theta, Nat. Spanish Honors Society, Award for performance on the national SPanish exam</em></p>

<p>Showed high interest in Davidson... Visited during the Summer between junior/senior year and immediately felt at home. SPoke with coaches/ad. counselor. I addressed in my app. that Davidson was the best fit for me, but that i felt it best to wait and ensure a good financial situation (which is indeed there). I have kept in contact with my Davidson ad. counselor throughout the process.</p>

<p>I know that decisions are almost here, but i would like some last minute thoughts... What are my chances of getting into Davidson? Thanks a ton!!! </p>

<p>i think you’ve got a great shot. Davidson and CMC are similar selectivity wise, so being accepted there is a good indicator that you’ve got a good chance at davidson</p>

<p>davidson doesnt really have that much diversity, the main population of the campus is “preppy rich white kids”, but that’s fine, people are nice here.</p>

<p>^^^I agree with this. I’m a current Davidson student and love it, but the campus is certainly lacking diversity in almost ever regard. That being said, I think you have a pretty good shot at getting in. Just be sure to show interest, write fantastic essays, and have strong recommendations. The incoming freshmen classes have gotten consistently stronger and more competitive, so you really need something in your application that truly stands out. </p>
