Accepted before submitting Essay?

My son received an email and video from what looks like Pitt saying he was accepted and a mailing would soon follow. The issue is he didn’t submit his essay yet. Was going to submit this weekend.

I will call the school admissions to confirm tomorrow, but is that normal? And could that be a fake email?

I was reading some of the replies on other threads.

If accepted before submitting essay should you still submit essays for scholarships and other purposes?

Yes. Submit essays for more competitive programs and money.

@fflmaster, First off, congratulations to your son!

The short answer responses are not required for an application to be considered complete. Since they are optional, we will send applications to committee and will not wait for short answer responses. Your son is welcome to send those short answers in for scholarship review.

Pitt admissions is flying this year.

My son sent his application on 9/11 and it was completed and he heard back on 9/23. Nice job!

@fflmaster, Thanks!

My son never got an email with the essays. But he got an envelope in the mail today from the Admissions office
. He is gone all day at an athletic event so I won’t know what is in it for awhile. But peeking through the opening with his name and address are the words “Welcome to the” I’m wondering why he did not get an email with the essays or an email of an acceptance (if that is what this letter is).

@PAO2008, your son is welcome to fill out the short answer questions whether or not he has been accepted already. He can find them here: https://oafa.pitt.edu/apply/admissions-process/short-answer-questions/
