anyone else get anything in the mail about "DIscover UC Riverside"? I didnt even apply here. Maybe its because i was rejeceted from UCD and UCSD...I may actually consider UCR if my admission wasnt by mistake.

"One or more UC campuses may utilize the UC referral pool for UC-eligible applicants not offered admission at any of the campuses to which they have applied. These campuses will contact students eligible for this offer after April 1, 2006."

I believe that is why you were offered admission to UCR.

That's a first. You can be accepted to a school without applying? I think it's a good chance for those who got rejected from other UCs to be able to attend a UC. UCR is better than nothing.

From what I gather, next year UC Merced will offer admission to those not accepted to other UC campuses (instead of UCR).

I think the UC system has had some similar system for many years.

My son received the postcard over the weekend. He is ELC and only applied to UCLA but didn't get in. We went on Riverside's website and logged in just for curiosity and found out that, yes, he's been admitted and has also received a Regent's scholarship. Funny way to find out. You think they would have sent a letter, especially since they're offering him a scholarship.

hey ASU mom, how did u find out that your son was accpeted? i logged in and everything but it didnt say anything

My son logged in to the UCR website after receiving the postcard (I think it's myUCR......); had to register first of course. It did state he was accepted and when I went to the financial aid section, we found out they offered him a scholarship. Try to log on again; if still no luck, call the admissions office.

A few of my friends got that E-Mail. One thought it was nothing but tomfoolery, so he discarded into his trashbin. Once he heard it was real, his sentiments didn't change.

Sad, sad occurence.
