Accepted but never been to California or UCSD. Some assistance please!

@iLoveSD I said overall rankings don’t matter, and I hold by that. The most important factor is the prestige of a particular department. Employers don’t care how good UCSD’s overall school is if they are a biotechnology company. They just care about the department that they are hiring from.

I’ll say it again: overall rankings simply DO NOT MATTER at the upper level. To think otherwise is frankly, as you like to say, delusional.

I hope I’m making myself clear enough for you. Now keep your juvenile insults to yourself, please :)

I wish KingsElite would respond faster to iLoveSD’s posts.

^Ha ha. What for? I’m done arguing. I made my point. iLoveSD doesn’t have to agree with me, I just wanted my point to be understood.

everyone just needs to light up a bleezy and relax

Hahahaha especially iLoveSD

You guys, oh man, you guys. My lovely thread has been derailed and then firebombed. I didn’t know Californians were so fiercely opinionated.

Its ok though, I thank you all for your responses; they were all really informative! I guess I owe the board an update, as well. I have pretty much decided on Boston University as my school, and I will likely send my deposit in on the 25th if nothing happens to change my mind. UCSD is a great school, no doubt. But the tuition is just too high for out of state students, and I received much more financial aid from Boston University. For any potential students reading this, don’t be dissuaded by my decision. I researched long and hard, and found the greater majority of UCSD’s programs in the very top of the nation (along with most of California’s public universities. Great state you guys have), especially in terms of medicine and engineering. However, my interest in the arts and social science would not grow as much in La Jolla’s UCSD rather than Boston’s BU. The decision was hard, but I’ve made it.

Thanks everyone for your help and opinions. And ease up a little on the flames. Go to the beach or something…god knows you have enough of it.

ha! californians are greatly opinionated. liberal capital, man.

Good luck, man! If I were in the same position as you with the same adacemic interests, I would have made the same decision. BU is a great school!
