Accepted but no mention of money

My daughter got the acceptance packet the other day — YAY… SOO excited!! — but… there was no mention of merit money, etc., and I’m seeing that some people DID receive a message about that too. We are out of state, barely (1.5 hours) and when I looked up out of state fin aid, her act score is one point below what it states for their requirements - even though her gpa is well above. Does that mean she is expected to pay full out of state tuition with no help other than loans?!? Anyone have any insight?

The scholarships are based on GPA and test score minimums. It is my understanding that if you meet both, there should be something mentioned in your letter. If nothing was mentioned, and you feel there was an error, I would call the admissions office.

Yes, it should be mentioned but we did have a friend last year who was accepted with no mention of any merit aid and then in March, I believe, when the scholarships were awarded, he did get a small amount of money so it’s possible. I wouldn’t count on it if you need the merit aid for her to be able to attend, though, since there is no guarantee, and it would likely be a small amount if her ACT is below the threshold. Hopefully she has a good in-state school as a backup if needed. Good luck to her!
