Accepted but not for the majors I applied for

I was wondering if anybody knows why I was accepted for a major I didn’t list on my common app. I was accepted into the school of Visual and Performing arts for the communications degree. On my common app I put my first choice as Newhouse for advertising, second as Whitman for marketing, and third as Falk for sports management. I didn’t really expect to get into Newhouse but expected to get into Whitman or Falk. In the acceptance letter it said “You are admitted to Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts, Communication and Rhetorical Studies program for the fall semester 2016! While we are unable to admit you to your first choice in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, this alternative program will provide a fascinating and rigorous place to begin your studies.” Why wouldn’t the Admissions office look at my second and third choice after my first?

Call them.
Either they made a mistake, or they didn’t have space to accommodate you in the alternate majors. Check out that major: dors it match your strengths better ? Is the xurriculum of interest ?
If not, then cords out Syracuse from your list.
By the way, is the College affordable for your parents? If it’s not, no need to go through the steps above.

THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME!? I applied for the Whitman school of management, yet I got accepted into the school of visual performing arts. I don’t know quite what this means. If you do call, please let me know what they tell you.
