Hi - i applied EA to Case and put my intended major as 1) nursing and 2) biology. I was accepted but on my letter there is no mention of the nursing school. Do you think that means I was just accepted to the university, but maybe not to the direct entry nursing program? I am planning to call on Monday, but thought I would see if anyone on this board might know how it works. Thanks in advance!
Hi there! I also applied to the nursing school, and I don’t think that acceptance letters indicate major. From what I hear, students are admitted to Case as a whole and not their intended major and can switch easily between majors if they so wish.
.
I would ask…
Call to confirm. I think everyone gets accepted to the university as a whole. We have a single door admissions policy, meaning you can declare any major you want. As such, I’m sure you can pursue the nursing program. But again, just call to confirm. I wouldn’t worry if I were you thought!
You get accepted to the school as a whole, yes, but certain majors you must also be admitted to (the single door policy does not automatically allow you to major in them). Nursing is one of those such majors (music is another). Usually they tell you whether you were accepted into the special approval department you applied for in your admissions letter. I would call and ask admissions.
To follow up, I called admissions yesterday and they said I was accepted and I could pick a major, including nursing. I called the nursing school just to double confirm that I could major in their direct entry program and they said yes. They said they could see why it might be confusing since the letter didn’t mention the program. Thanks again for all the replies!
