so I recently got accepted into Milton but waitlisted by Andover and Choate. You think I still have a chance at getting into Andover or Choate?
I live in Canada and I go to Canada's top girl's school.
I am ranked number in my grade (1/86) and straight A's except for a B in PE.
I play competitive tennis, I am ranked number 4 in my province and I have qualified to attend nationals.
I was selected to represent my school to attend the annual national math olympics.
I speak 3 languages (English, French and Chinese) and I am currently studying my fourth, Spanish.
I've received distinction (95%) on the Annual Trinity Guildhall exam of London for Public Speaking.
I am part of my school's debate team. I recently just won the annual gavel tournament in my region. Our school has an incredibly strong debate team - we sent girls to the world's championships while we brought back gold (this girl goes to Yale now).
I used to skate for Canada 2 years ago but I had to stop due to an injury.
I also volunteered as an amateur translator at the Beijing 2008 Olympics.

BUUT... THERE IS A CATCH.
I only got 85% on my SSATS ... YES I KNOW, incredibly low.
do you still I have a SMALL chance?

Unless you really had your heart in Andover or Choate, I would say stick with Milton. Waitlists are tricky, though your stats are def enough for these schools.

85 is certainly not low on an absolute basis, but relative to her otherwise stellar stats, it does not quite match up. Go to Milton. Great school. Based on your spectacular record, you will do great wherever you go.

My son was waitlisted at his first choice, but accepted at others. If you tell them you no longer require financial aid as things have drastically changed since end of last year, do you have a better chance of being accepted? My son scored in over 90 percentile in all areas on psat;s, straight A’s this year, great athlete and involved in community service. If anyone has any ideas how to approach the school for admission, please let me know. For some reason my son felt a deep connection to this school.

“If you tell them you no longer require financial aid as things have drastically changed since end of last year, do you have a better chance of being accepted?”

Yes, definitely! Tell the admissions office that, so if they have a full-pay student that matriculates elsewhere, he can fill in for them. More full-pays have been accepted than kids on FA, so it’s more likely he’ll get taken off the waitlist, methinks…

i would go to milton, with waitlists, you’re never sure. Unless you find yourself just seeing milton as a “back up” school then perhaps it would be in your best interest to hope to get into andover or choate on the waitlist, but if you do like milton, I would advise going.

just stick w/ milton.
waitlists aren’t things you should depend on.
really, milton’s a great school, it’s definitely able to compete w/ andover or choate.
be happy w/ your acceptance!
