Accepted but with no scholarships?

Well, I got first priority decisions from SUNY Buffalo and Stony Brook. Buffalo gave me their $10,000 over 4 years scholarship, while Stony Brook didn't give me anything! I'm just wondering why one school would give me such a great bonus and the other, similar one, wouldn't give me anything because I think that in terms of admissions SUNY Buffalo and Stony Brook are about the same, with Stony Brook maybe being slightly more selective. Are they just stingy with scholarships?

I don't think SBU has given anyone anything yet.

As far as I know, Buffalo gives out a lot more money because of their massive endowment funds.

If SB really wants good students, they should start giving out money, I'm going to place my deposit for Buffalo soon unless I can get more money to go here!

-Same here. Plattsburgh promised me 3500 a year, so yeah <_<

Hang in there, folks. The scholarship committee meets in early March; you should have your notifications some time mid-month. You still have plenty of time to deposit, so hang in there!

If you have questions about scholarships, just search "scholarships" on the main Web site. All the info should be on there; if you have specific questions, let me know.

I think Stony Brook's admissions criteria are probably comparable with Buffalo's; they have a lot larger student body than we do, but we're otherwise similar.
