<p>I remember calling them since I had problems with the financial aid documents, and they said they are starting this month</p>

<p>SBU can't afford to give scholarships, so if you are looking for a big financial break, you better pray. Only ppl who get scholarships are Honors College, EOP, Wise, and athletes. Unless you fall into one of these categories, your relying only on TAP and Fafsa. So good luck.</p>
<p>I didn't send FAFSA to Stony Brook because it was so cheap to begin with. However, when I recently completed FAFSA for another school, my EFC was only about 1000 dollars. Is there any way that I can still send FAFSA to them now, and have them consider me for FA?</p>

I'm Out-of-state and I got 2 scholarships today.
The Academic Program Scholarship with an annual value of $500 for 4 years, totalling $2000
The Provost's Scholarship with an annual value of $5500 for 4 years, totalling $22000
So in total that's around $6000 a year.
Who said SBU can't afford to give scholarships?

I'm still wondering if I should go to SUNYSB or UIUC.

<p>We give out plenty of scholarships, as you can see! And this statement -- "Only ppl who get scholarships are Honors College, EOP, Wise, and athletes" is patently wrong. Please don't comment on things that you don't know about. We offer several million dollars in scholarships every year -- and that goes to a much wider pool than just selected programs. Scholarship consideration this year went to students with GPAs over a B+(ish), and over a 1250 SAT. The higher you are, the greater award category you fall into.</p>
<p>Congrats on your awards, t151848p! Admittedly, I'm biased, but our Computer Science department is top-notch. I'm not necessarily familiar with Illinois, but as a large research campus, I'd say the departments are likely comparable. Have you visited Stony Brook yet? Where are you from?</p>

<p>I don't think that you could be reconsidered because there are many people in that same situation. Like me for example haha</p>

<p>Kimmi - Unfortunately, I doubt it. The scholarship folks decided that 1250 was going to be the cutoff this year. The cutoff has to be somewhere, and that's where they figured. There may always be other scholarships you may qualify for down the road... don't give up! There are plenty of other dollars available.</p>
