So recently, I finally got accepted by the school of music that I really want to attend. However, I still have to wait for the decision from the University itself. I know the whole "we can't really know unless we know your stats and the school's stats" thing and to be truthful I was rejected by this University once (2 years ago when I just graduated high school). And then I just decided to enlist in the army first because of the conscription requirement in my country. My grades are "okay-ish (B+ student), like on the borderline of the stats of this University. And I thought since now I have been accepted by the school of music it gives me a better edge on their decision. But i was only accepted into the BA in Music program, so I am not that strong of a musician in their eyes. Still, I have researched and heard examples that the applicant was accepted into the school of music, but got rejected by the university because he or she doesn't meet the school's academic standard and even though the school of music fought hard for the applicant, he still didn't get in. Not to mention that I only got into the BA in Music program and not BM. So is it still very possible that I will be rejected by the University?

Hope this doesn't sound too confusing. I know no one can really answer my question, but I would just like some input or some opinions about this matter. Thank you.

The best thing is to contact the university and check on your status. Most academic decisons are out now and it may be that the BA acceptance counted. Is this for a graduate level program? Most grad students have their information and must make acceptance decisions soon. Not knowing which university it is hard to say. Have you checked the on-line portals for any updates?

To Singersmom07. This is for undergrad (since it’s a bachelor’s degree) and yes they do have a online portal that post decisions and mine still says “evaluation” even though I applied for EA last November. I know EA doesn’t matter for music majors since we have to go through the audition process anyways, but I thought I might know a decision sooner. And it’s not just me that has to wait for the decision from the school of music first, it’s all other music major applicants. I don’t know. I just hope for the best for now.

I think you should contact the school. I believe you should have heard by now. If it’s at a school like Northwestern where Bienen does offer a BA in Music along with BM’s one would still need to be accepted into the university as a whole, and that would be dependent on one’s academic record.

My d has 2 schools that are still deciding. I have not personally made any contact with any school until last week as I am having my d do this as part of her growth. Last week I contacted her number one school and they said she was in academic review. The other is much lower on the list so I have not contacted them. Is this a defacto wait list situation? Or are the really that far behind? Chwu60 I completely understand your situation. Fortunately d has 4 other acceptances which have been placed in rank order, but. With these two outstanding schools we r at a standstill and also extremely frustrated.
