Good news for others waiting on CALS, a friend of mine just texted and sent a pic saying he was accepted this morning. So it probably switched last night, which means they are actually doing something and we might get an acceptance before December (heh).

Anyway, IIRC his GPA was only in the 3.3 range in case someone was curious.

thanks, hsb1104. I’m going to try. ^ Wow, again I am shocked. Messed up admissions system. Good for your friend though, can’t believe with that GPA they got in.

Kate - looks like it requires Chem I, Bio I & II, Calc, Intro to stats, and microeconomics.
Here’s the transfer guide, tells you what each program in CALS requires prior to transferring.

Thanks hsb1104- Looks like it is required also for the Non-Preprofessional Wildlife and Conservation. I was told it was not required if you were not going for the Preprofessional Degree.

For that “informal intership”, would I be required in application to document that somehow (letter of reference…)? It seems like I should have to, but not sure.

^ no. For the transfer application there is no space nor request for any LOR’s or subsequent documents. If they care enough, they’ll ask, but I wouldn’t expect it. You’re going to get in, stop worrying.

kscool: Thanks for the info. Good to know that lunch will not be included. Besides food, what all should I plan to bring money for?

I heard about UF moving to block tuition. Can’t say that I’m thrilled about that. I don’t have Bright Futures, so I guess that’s one thing I don’t have to worry about, lol.

UForBust,
Bring money for Gator1Card (15$), lunch, and that’s pretty much it, unless you want to buy gator apparel. Other than that it’s just going to be informational and singing gator cheers, lol, seriously.

I’m seriously about to start hyperventilating. I’m literally at a loss for words even though I expected it. Thank god I finally got in!! 3.89 GPA into CALS - major: biology pre-med for those anyone who cares.

I um, have no idea what to do now…I may scream.

So I got an email from Emelie at CALS asking for some grades from my last semester classes so that she could make a decision. I was a little discouraged because I am retaking chem 1 this summer because I did poorly last semester. So I decided I would check tonight and see if my status changed…I was pretty surprised to see that I got accepted! The only problem now is I have to defer for a semester because part of my conditions for acceptance is to finish chem 2 before going but it’s not possible to take it this summer.

Don’t get me wrong, I am super excited that I got accepted but I just feel like I am so close and so far at the same time. It’s just one more semester but that feels so long. lol.

As for everyone still waiting, trust me your decision is coming. Just be patient and keep positive!

For those of you who want to know, I got accepted into the Animal Biology program and I applied with a 3.5 gpa…after last semester I have a 3.3

So I called CALS and I didn’t get an conditional admission because I didn’t list on my application that I was going to take a prereq over the summer. However, I did e-mail Emelie and hopefully that gets taken care of. @steel88 did you finish all your prereqs? @zappier: are you allowed to defer a semester while you’re currently taking courses at a cc without reapplying?

lavender19, I am not sure what the policy is for deferrment. I know that other university’s ask for a security deposit of $500-$1500 to hold the seat and also a letter of explanation stating why you need to defer. I am calling CALS today to find out their policy.

@lavender, yes I finished up all my prereqs this last spring semester. When I applied I was still in 3 prereqs though. Currently I’m just taking my last 2 classes for my A.A. which are psychology and a humanities.

So my application has to be re-referred for the spring semester. I was told that as long as I do well in the fall I will be accepted again for the spring.

Thanks scgirl, I still haven’t gotten anything in the mail yet telling me when my orientation or anything is. I’m deciding on when I’m going to go to check out some apartments or condo’s down there though, I was thinking this weekend or next week.
