MY D was waitlisted …she is so sad as Emerson was her first choice. She sent the pleading letter "I dubbed the “Beg Letter” and e-mails and updates on her record. I heard that one cannot transfer into BFA /MT at Emerson. Anyone know if this is true? I am sure D would have to audition again.

Anyone hear anything on waitlist? I just got accepted to BU from wait list but financial aid was terrible. Curious about whether Emerson is offering any real aid to waitlist acceptances.

I’m a transfer still patiently waiting for FA… :-O

My D was wait listed and got notified today she is accepted. No mention of Financial Aid, and they acted as it it was not even a consideration. Not sure if FA is even a possibility with Wait listed students since so few are being called in. She is thrilled, I hope to hear more very soon.

Stanley90 - may I ask what her major is at Emerson?

Also I would think that this year especially most schools are not in the position to offer aid to waitlist applicants?

Her major is Literature/Writing and Publishing (at least that is what my impression is). I understand the wait list issue with financial aid, but I would think in order to be off of the wait list someone had to decline, and with 70% of applicants getting some Aid I would think there may be some consideration, especially need based. I believe this is a common issue, and they acknowledge it, but can’t do anything about it…so we accept it and are happy she is in. I am not sure how large the wait list pool is, or how many will make it, but good luck to those who are still waiting to hear.

Well… I am a 23 year old Transfer Student from Community college. I applied to the Writing, Lit, Publishing major (its the least impacted). From what I know from admissions, they had over 7,000 applicants this year, and a accepted pool of around 35 percent or almost 2500. They over shoot since they know the economy is a bit bad.

I got accepted as a junior level transfer. My application was in by March 15th, and I got my decision April 15th. It was a long process. But I find that if you develop a relationship with the admission counselors, it helps. Lisa Yaeger helped me, and she was WONDERFUL!

I find that Emerson isn’t as concerned with the best grades as they are with unique experiences and a passion for the arts. I transferred with a 3.3 and a GED, but I also went two extra steps and sent in a portfolio of my work, etc.

Film and theater at Emerson are IMPOSSIBLE practically. It is so competetive, but its good. You cannot transfer into these programs, but, you can transfer into a BFA in WLP which is what i’m doing.

Hope this gives some encouragement =) Even if you aren’t the best, just remember that odd balls happen, alot of people may reject and be deferred. June 1st is the decision deadline, after that they will decide if they have met their quota, if not, they will go to the wait lists =)
