Accepted Early....but is staying in a concern?

Earlier this week I found out that was accepted early to UVa. While I am thrilled at the great news, I am beginning to worry about losing my place when they see my midyear grade report. If grades came out today I would have:

AP World History: A
Dual Enrollment Government: A
AP English Lit: B

(and now for the bad part at my classes at the Governor's School I attend for Math, Science and Technology)

Product Design Engineering:B
Dual Enrollment Physics: C
Lab Calculus: C

I will try to pull my grades up by the end of the year but am less than optimistic about being able to by the midyear report deadline (with the possible exception of Calculus). Believe it or not, this has not been a case of senioritis and I have probably worked the hardest this year out of any other year. I have even went so far as to get a tutor for Calculus and Physics which has not helped nearly as much as I would have hoped.

Does anyone have any advice on what I should be trying to do to ensure my place in the class of 2010?? I have worked and am continuing to work my very hardest and would hate to have my lifelong goal fall from my grasp because I chose to take the hardest courses I could find in my weakest subjects with the attempt of bettering myself to excell next year.

By the way, all of my courses are weighted this year and I was not an A student in my math or science courses last year (B first and second semester for Advanced Biology, A first C second for Precalculus).

you'll have to get like all d's and f's to get your offer rescinded. don't flip out over 2 or 3 (or 4) C's if you have some A's and B's thrown in there.

Two C's won't mean anything. Several people who were accepted early in my school started dropping grades from A's and B's to B's and C's like crazy and were perfectly fine. Just don't start failing everything (which obviously isn't going to be a problem here).

I think with the two C's you should be okay. However, jags85 is not correct that 3 or 4 C's won't cause your offer to be rescinded.

3 or 4 C's won't get you rescinded. If you take 6 classes a marking period, midterm, and final, thats 36 grades. 4 C's out of 36 grades isn't going to get an offer rescinded.

If you get into UVa with a GPA of say 3.8 and then your GPA for the semester drops to 2.5 (A, B, C, C, C, C). UVa will be very concerned.

I wasn't talking about getting c's as final grades, that would mean you're getting like alot of c's...but to pick up a few C's here and there isn't going to do much damage at all.

The grades I am talking about are for the semester. Is there anything anyone would recommend me doing to reflect the fact that I am actually trying and not just having a severe case of senioritis? Physics is absolutely killing me but I have really been doing well lately in Calculus.

Brooks, you'll be fine in Calculus and Physics. The intersession break will be helpful for us to rejuvinate. As long as you work hard the second semester, you'll pull off a B for the year.
P.S. See you at school tomorrow! haha
