Accepted ED into Stevens but need to look at other schools

I was accepted Early Decision into Stevens Institute of Technology for the class of 2024 but I was looking to see if I could get into Rutgers New Brunswick. Stevens is a dream school but Rutgers is much more affordable.

I understand I shouldnt have done ED if I was going to compare financial aid but I was sure I would receive SOME aid or scholarships from Stevens but I have gotten nothing. I am going to appeal for my aid but I doubt I will get much.

I was very confident I would receive my notification from Rutgers by now so I could try to get out of Stevens ED but it seems I won’t until mid January or so. The deadline for the enrollment deposit for Stevens is January 10 but I am afraid if I decline it, I might risk not having anywhere to go if I’m not accepted into Rutgers.

I’m not sure what to do as of right now. Please let me know your thoughts and also what you think of my chances for Rutgers is:

1310 SAT
3.8 W GPA
Some extracurriculars and volunteering (not a ton though)
In-state
Computer science major (I applied to SAS, BS, SE)

Thank you

Is Stevens affordable?

If not, then you cannot attend anyway. Unaffordability is typically the accepted reason for backing out of ED (check the ED agreement fine print).

If yes, then you agreed to attend by applying ED.

That’s really odd that Stevens didn’t give you anything. Their awards average in the $10,000-$20,000 range. You should appeal as soon as possible.
