I was accepted to my ED school a month ago. This week I got into trouble for something stupid me and my friend did over break. My High School is giving me a suspension for five days. They say this will appear on my disciplinary record.

What can I do to avoid being rescinded? I have expressed remorse over my actions and have apologized to those I have hurt. Will my high school counselor report this to my college? Will the college see my disciplinary record? I don't get back to school until next week, so should I send an email to my guidance counselor now asking for help with my situation. I am deeply sorry for what I have done, I've been a good kid and this is the first time I've gotten in trouble.

Please help

If your ED school is a Common Application school, then your school will need to send in a mid year report, which asks if there have been any changes in your disciplinary status or criminal history since the last report.

Email your counselor about this. Do not attempt to hide this from your ED school. Hopefully your counselor will be able to guide you on how to communicate this to your ED school.

Probably depends on what you were suspended for. If it was something really really stupid (for example, someone in my school got suspended for 2 weeks once for saying “I’ll kill you!” as an obvious joke to his friend), then I don’t think it would be a big deal. If it was serious like cheating or drug use, then you’ll have a huge problem on your hands.

It involved obscene comments and derogatory remarks to a teacher on an online forum. Friend and I were being immature and I am very regretful of this moment of stupidity.

You need to go ask your guidance counselor about this. None of us have the power to help you out of this situation. Only the people at your school can do that.
