Since the C is in AP Physics which is considered a challenging course, I think you are O.K. But the best approcach would be to immediately write/email the admissions people and inform them of the grade, assure them this was to due difficulty of material and not you slacking off, etc.

By coping with this setback in a timely fashion, and honestly, you will demonstrate maturity and responsibility to the adcoms.

Will your school send the actual quarter grades to Tufts or just second semester grades? If your school only sends semester grades and if you can get your 4th quarter grade up, you’ll probably turn out fine. I wouldn’t rush to contact the Tufts admissions office about it; you should talk to your guidance counselor first and see what advice he/she has for you. You should also talk to your physics teacher and get some help.

Don’t freak out. Write them a letter if you think this grade will kill the scores your school will send to them, like was already suggested. Bring it back up the best you can.

Panicking is not okay. Take it all in stride. No one’s perfect. Just do your best to bring it back up. Physics C is hard, it’s understandable.

I would no sooner contact the school than I would jump out of a window. There is very little you can do about it now and they wouldnt rescind an admission before the end of the year grades regardless… don’t slack off any more and try to get it back up there. You’re still headed for a decent grade for the year and that’s all they’d care about.

Your acceptance to Tufts is as good as gone. My friend pulled all A’s his senior year, except he got a C in AP Calc BC and his admission to Tufts was rescinded, even after he sent in a letter explaining the situation. I hope you brought some backup schools because it looks like community college for you next year.

You’ll be fine. It’s not like you completely blew off all of your classes as do many seniors. You just had difficulty with one class, and did well with the others. And, keep in mind, YOU AREN’T FAILING. failing a class or coming close would be the only red flag.
