Does anybody know how one would go about applying for federal loans through Cornell? I found their Parent PLUS loan application, but I couldn’t find anything on direct loans.

@shockastrika83, I don’t think you apply for them now. I think they were part of the fafsa app, and if you qualified for them, they would be a part of your fin aid award. But not completely sure, I would call fin aid office.

@concerto95 I did qualify for some, I just don’t know how to get them. My current school had a paper application that you had to submit once your got “approved” for a loan via the FA package. I’ll give them a ring tomorrow.

I’ve been accepted!!! CALS Atmospheric Sciences.

Also, when do we find out our financial package? I won’t be attending unless my package is substantial (which it probably won’t be), and I have everything worked out with University of Oklahoma already. Even got approved for my apartment out there.

EDIT: I’m confused about how the financial aid process works. Do they just determine it through your FAFSA? I wouldn’t be able to afford the school anyway; my parents make a lot of money and won’t help contribute, and I don’t want to take out an extraordinary amount of loans.

Hi! Did anyone hear from the Traditions Fellowship? I just recieved a letter today and than I got an email that my fin aid changed (almost had a heart attack!) but at the end it stayed the same as cornell is giving me less and Traditions are contribting the difference…I am jst asking because I dont really know what it is…Some kind of working group? Anyone knows better?

Hey, guys! Has anyone sent in their final transcript yet? The “To-Do List” for transfer students says, “Please send a copy of your final college transcript(s) that reflects completed courses through the end of your current term to: Processing Center, 349 Pine Tree Road, Ithaca, NY 14850,” but when I looked at my transfer degree summary it said, “We will promptly remove the HOLD on your registration upon receipt of your official transcript (note: transcript must be sent directly from your College to our office). If you have any questions, please contact me in the Office of the College Registrar, 146 MVR Hall.” Since those two directives are conflicting, I’m not sure whether to send it to the Processing Center or Martha Van Rensselaer Hall. (And I’m hoping to avoid calling and feeling dumb!)

@CHEhopeful I assume the Processing Center as that’s where the initial transcript had to be sent. Either way I’m sure it’ll get where it needs to go.

@rewaska I got the email and letter too. I think it replaces part of the loan Cornell gives you (if you got one). It seems like a community service program, although 250 hrs seems like a lot.

@Rewaska @silverleafresort I got it as well. It seems like a good deal, as it would probably help in terms of connections and possible internship/job opportunities. We’ll have to see when the “additional information” comes.

Has anybody got a Cornell T-shirt in their admissions package? I was under the impression that Cornell provides a lettered t-shirt to those who are committed to attend, but that may be only for the freshman admission.

@aerivus It’s for freshmen only I do believe Unless you want a Class of 2018 shirt :D
