Welcome to your son! My son just finished his sophomore year and he and I were talking yesterday about his experiences "half way through." Swarthmore was his only choice and he does not regret it for one moment. I hope it is as wonderful an experience for your child as it has been for mine. Please ask away as your questions pile up!

momof3sons, is your son going for study abroad next year? I was wondering where Swatties go. My son says there are good programs with Sydney University in Australia where he may be interested...

achat,
My son, unfortunately, never expressed an interest in going abroad, and now that he has been accepted as a double honors major in political science and history, his "course of action" is pretty well set for the next couple of years.
I think I remember that Swat has an interesting program in Grenoble, France and Swatties can latch on to a number of other programs, even if they are not directly sponsored by Swat.

I hope andi is reading this. If Swat doesn't work out we can all put our heads together for some kind of amazingly creative and unique gap year for her son.

Andi, this isn't the best of suggestions in that it's really not a step into the adult world, but your son could probably if he wanted do a post-grad year at Interlochen.

Fiddlefrog that's an interesting suggestion; we'll look into it. I've never quite figured out what the adult world is anyway.

donemom it is possible to stay on more than one waitlist; in fact, it's highly recommended. Although I'm not sure one would give each one the 'promise' of attending if admitted sort of approach.
