Accepted From Waitlist - Yeah!!

My son just got a call from Swarthmore admissions - he's been accepted! He is thrilled, and his mom and I are thrilled for him.

He got the call at school (public high school in Maine). Guidance called him downstairs for "an important phone call".

My son the Swattie - awesome for him!!

CONGRATS! I'm from VT and going to Swat next fall, hope to see him there! If he wants, he can converse with fellow admitted 09-ers at www.swarthmore09.org to get a sense of what next year's class is like...

Congrats! I was wondering when and who the lucky ones would be told/were.

That's great news for your son, BMan.

bmon:

Congratulations to your son. Holler if you need some driving directions for next fall. I've just about got the route memorized!

we are all still hoping for andi's son

ditto.
fingers still crossed

Welcome to your son! My son just finished his sophomore year and he and I were talking yesterday about his experiences "half way through." Swarthmore was his only choice and he does not regret it for one moment. I hope it is as wonderful an experience for your child as it has been for mine. Please ask away as your questions pile up!

Congrats! :D

Congrats to bman's son.

momof3sons, is your son going for study abroad next year? I was wondering where Swatties go. My son says there are good programs with Sydney University in Australia where he may be interested...

yayy, congratulations!!!!

achat,
My son, unfortunately, never expressed an interest in going abroad, and now that he has been accepted as a double honors major in political science and history, his "course of action" is pretty well set for the next couple of years.
I think I remember that Swat has an interesting program in Grenoble, France and Swatties can latch on to a number of other programs, even if they are not directly sponsored by Swat.

Thank you all, from him and me. No questions yet; he's still doing handsprings down the street. I hope those of you waiting get the call soon.

I hope andi is reading this. If Swat doesn't work out we can all put our heads together for some kind of amazingly creative and unique gap year for her son.

Thanks Alumother. We haven't stopped working on it for a minute!!!
andi

Andi, this isn't the best of suggestions in that it's really not a step into the adult world, but your son could probably if he wanted do a post-grad year at Interlochen.

Congrats to Bman and son; and Andi--I'm still thinking about and rooting for your son every single day.

I was just wondering...can a student stay on more than one waitlist? I'm assuming that they could then pursue several aggressively if desired.

Thanks everyone.

Fiddlefrog that's an interesting suggestion; we'll look into it. I've never quite figured out what the adult world is anyway.

donemom it is possible to stay on more than one waitlist; in fact, it's highly recommended. Although I'm not sure one would give each one the 'promise' of attending if admitted sort of approach.

Good to hear from you andi.
