I noticed for the accepted class of 2015 stats (Admission > Admission Statistics) the average GPAs don't seem to correspond with the average ranks. For example, for H&SS the avg. GPA is 3.59 but I highly doubt that would be in the top 9%. Same for MCS, SCS and Tepper-avg. GPAs around 3.7 but average class rank of top 5%? Anybody know what I'm missing? Thanks.

Well actually it depends on the school. At my school a 3.7 would easily put you in the top 5%.

Seriously? At my school you have to have a 3.39 to be in the top half, and it’s a really hard school. It’s small-ish, maybe that’s why.

Each college calculates HS GPA’s differently. In that chart the GPA doesn’t really mean anything, but the ranking does.
