Accepted Harvard SCEA, but worried about being rescinded

Hey everyone! I was accepted to Harvard early, but due to a combination of senioritis, illness, and the death of a family member, my grades have dropped.

When I was accepted, they had my first quarter grades, which were:
AP Calc AB: A
AP Psych: A+
AP Eng Lit: A
AP Spanish: A+
AP Physics 1: A
Gym: A+
Writing Elective: A+

But my grades have slipped, and I expect to get a C overall this semester in Calc and a B in Physics. They’ll see this (projected) in the mid-year report:
AP Calc AB: C or C-
AP Psych: A
AP Eng Lit: A-
AP Spanish: A
AP Physics 1: B or B-
Gym: A+
Writing Elective: A+

Is this grounds to get me rescinded? Please no crass or joking comments. I’m genuinely worried and stressed as I understand it’s my job as a student to keep up my academic standing. I’m the first in my town to be admitted to Harvard, and the first in my family to attend such a school, so I’m really worried.

You should be OK BUT be sure you don’t let the grades slip further. In particular, do everything humanly possible to keep your calculus grade in the C range – use online resources, see the teacher for help, get a tutor if needed – whatever it takes.
And congrats on the acceptance!

Thank you! Do you think I should write a letter explaining the circumstances or just leave it as is?

Are you an URM? Girl, if you are, don’t even worry about it – I got accepted with C’s and B’s so there’s no way you’d ever get rescinded for just one C lol.

Leave it as is for now, and speak with your teacher asap …see if she can offer extra help or any advice

I don’t think you’ll get rescinded, but maybe warned? Something like this happened to a student at my high school

What happened with the math and physics? Your ability didn’t change, so you must have slacked off quite a bit.

The purpose of academic work isn’t just to get in

You will probably be fine.

Be careful about making excuses. If you have a health problem, be sure to register with the office of disabilities and get accommodations, which should make it easier to avoid a drop like this- if illness was indeed a factor here.

No d
No f
No felonies.
No social media missteps

C’s are probably going to be a question at a Harvard perhaps too.

If everything slides you may receive questions and you can respond.

Get back on top of it. If asked and you can demonstrate you are back on track that’s more powerful than excuses.

Congrats and best of luck!

If you don’t mind, could you share with us what you did for extracurriculars, your awards, and if you are a recruited athlete or not, thanks!
