Ok, I’m a little nervous about this. Let’s just say I was admitted into a top 20 college. Then in my first semester senior year I got 6 As and a C. I have AP calc, AP lit, AP phys, AP psych, AP gov, AP Econ, and some other filler classes. I have all A’s except in Calc. I had a 3.7uw 4.4w going into the year.(might go up with all the APs). Would they rescind my admittance with a C? It’s pretty low, but all that shows up on the official report is a letter grade. So a 70 is the same as a 79. Opinions?
I don’t think so. If you keep up the rest of your grades as As and just have the one see in AP Calc (which everyone knows can be very difficult) they would be very unlikely to rescind. Try to raise it at least to a B second semester if you can, just to be safe. They may send you a letter of warning, but I don’t think one C is a dealbreaker.
Straight from Hernandez - Acing the College Application:
“Sure if your grades drop dramatically colleges do reserve the right to reject you once you’ve been accepted, but we are talking about an A average dropping to a C or two or more classes with D or F grades. Even one C won’t finish you off because most colleges allow for one C, especially in Calculus.”
I wouldn’t worry if I were you.
From what I have also heard from friends, a C is okay. You should be fine.
Well thank you all, that is rather reassuring
