<li><p>During the admitted students program I was in Sontag, a very nice, suite-style dorm. Unfortunately, seeing this dorm was irrelevant to me as a pre-frosh. From what I heard, the dorm rooms vary. Some are bigger than others, some are better lit than others, etc.</p></li>

<p>I'm guessing you're asking about stereotypes and such to figure out which dorm you'd like to be in. I'm not sure if you already know, but two people decide which dorm freshmen will stay in based on a long questionaire we fill out. There isn't really a voting system.</p>
<p>if you really like to cook make sure that you make that point on your room questionaire. say that you would really like access to a kitchen.</p>

<p>yeah. there's a trader joe's and various shopping centers within walking/biking distance. they are walkable but i would personally bike them because it is at least a 30 minute walk.</p>
<p>i don't get out too often so i really don't know the exact proximity. sorry.</p>
<p>or get someone to drive you. vons is right up mills, there's a ralph's at the corner of foothill and i think mountain (to the west), and there's an albertson's down foothill a ways. i usually go to albertson's, but i have a car. vons is probably the closest, but i still wouldnt want to walk (or bike) to any of them, but i'm lazy.</p>
<p>oh, and yeah, my current roommate is the orientation director for you guys, and she and the other orientation director get to pick your rooms for you. and i'll be here over the summer, so i'll probably be helping out.</p>
<p>pls tell me theres a costco/priceclub nearby. Bulk is my crutch. :)</p>
<p>there's a costco somewhat nearby (at least within driving distance). I've never gone cause I'm not a memeber, but my roommate has been there before.</p>
