Accepted Students Days

Hi. DS applied regular decision so will not know decision until end of March. Does anyone know about Accepted Students Days in April? I don’t see them published unless you’ve already been accepted.

There was an date in April but I don’t remember the exact date. Sorry.

I believe it is April 10.

Thank you!

April 3rd and 10th

My daughter was accepted early action, and her accepted student day was supposed to be April 3. However, now it looks like she won’t have one since the university just announced today that it is canceling classes for coronavirus until at least April 10.

The admissions website says, "The Admitted Student Open Houses scheduled on Friday, April 3 and Friday, April 10 have been cancelled. Online resources for newly admitted students will be available in early April. In the meantime, please review the admitted student checklists and admission decision FAQs. We also encourage students to explore campus through our virtual visit. "

My D20 attended the Admitted Student event on 2/28, sessions on Information Science and Psychology.

@Hippobirdy - How was it?

@SoofDad , it was excellent.

My D20 said it was a positive experience, chance to hear from department heads and current students about majors.

D20 thought she knew all about UMD because older sib attended, and D20 did a youth camp, but was pleasantly surprised to learn many new items of interest and that her experience will be unique/separate from older sib’s.

Faculty discussed Benchmark requirements for each major (with powerpoint slides), also options for research and finding internships through career center.

Enjoyed meeting folks in Living Learning Programs- the resident advisors and current students for College Park Scholars held a session. Had some examples of how freshman and sophomore Scholars’ schedules meet Gen Ed requirements.

Met other kids, had good lunch, toured a dorm.

From parent perspective, pleased to hear about tutoring and advising in College of Information Studies. Also surprised to learn BS in Information Science is relatively new program for undergrad grew from the graduate program for library science.
Impressed with Scholars LLP, seems successful in having students settle in and navigate freshman year.

@Hippobirdy Thanks, glad to hear that it was a good experience.
