Accepted Students--LBW 2014

Hey my names Jeremy. I just got accepted to LBW in San Francisco so I figured I'd start a thread for everyone. Congrats to everyone, this is gonna be a blast!

Hey Jeremy! My name is Larry. I’m happy to say I also was accepted to LBW in San Francisco, so I look forward to meeting you!

Of course! It’s gonna be great. We’ll talk more on Facebook eventually. Haha once I actually make a Facebook.

Hi, I was accepted as well to San Francisco!

u guys r so lucky! i only get waitlisted… :((

Aw I’m sorry to hear that. Well, there’s hope I think, because I know a lot of east coast kids (like myself) got put in San Fran, so some might not go bc of money. Idk if that helps, but there’s a chance.

@jdwasham4197 ohhh, really? I thought nobody would decline offer from this program cuz it looks so excellent. I supposed there is no chance for me to get enrolled >.< But I really feel sorry for those who will not go… Ambivalent feelings…

Could any of you who got accepted post your stats and any tips for next year applicants like myself?

Sure thing man.

I won’t go in depth though, I’ll just include what I listed on my application.

Anyway, here we go:

Academics:
-4.18 GPA, All A’s in 5 honors classes and 2 AP classes (Macro and Lang)
I also sent my full schedule, so they could see I was taking 5 on the year.
-5/631 class rank
-233 PSAT Score

Recs:
-I got one from my Guidance Counselor and Macro teacher (since I took it a year early and loved it) but honestly use your own discretion here.

EC’s:
-Fencing
-Junior Achievement (It’s like a student internship/mock company thing).
-Stock Market Club (I started it).

Awards/Honor:
-3rd in Regional FBLA-economics
-President of Key Club (haha this ones weird, cuz I didn’t list it as an EC, but sort of spun it into an “honor”, since our club has 400 people).
-Junior Olympics (I pretty much just emphasized the significance of fencing on the national level, as the tournament itself didn’t go as well as I would’ve hoped).

Essays:
-Why LBW
-Leadership Moment
I can send you these if you’d like, I don’t feel like describing them.

Anyway, thats about it. Personally, I feel like my extracurriculars are pretty weak compared to some of the kids who got in, but I took the time in the description (you get about a paragraph to describe them) to make them seem really significant to me individually. Additionally, I feel that I wrote really unique essays, and I made sure to not take the boring, business-y tone that I’m sure anyone can easily write (I did this, it was important in this way, it changed me as a person because of this… you know, the basic reflective essay).

If you want to pm me, I’d love to help you with your application, and I’d be happy to share my essays.

@jdwasham4197‌ I’m going to San Fran, as well! Question: Have you received your payment invoice, and if so, how did you receive it (email, mail, etc?) and when is the deadline? I haven’t received the invoice and I RSVP’d a while ago.
